The reason young children in Pakistan are being sexually abused is because of people like us on this forum, including those participating in this topic. 75% of the comments have been abuse at ideas and individuals, the same as most of the content of this forum.
If we cared, we wouldn't be finger pointing, point scoring and turning the sarcasm meter up to maximum, we'd want to do something about it. The fact is we don't care enough to do something about it.
90% of people on this forum must know someone who has been sexually abused as a child or an adult. I certainly do. On another forum i participate on people opened up on a topic about their experiences with sexual abuse and most people who commented had experienced sexual abuse, most of the serious offences were caused by people they knew or by people in a position of trust.
We live in interesting times - that which used to be in the shadows is coming out into the open. Sexual abuse impacts men, women and children. It is not about sexual desire, it is about an expression of power.
Terry Crews admitted he was sexually assulted last year - look at the size of the man, but someone who felt they had power over Terry groped him and they got away with it because they do wield enough power for Terry to not risk going public with who that person was.
If you want to reduce sexual crime you have to;
1. Reduce the opportunities for it to occur.
2. Implement harsh sentencing against the perpetrators
3. Protect the identities of the victims
4. Remove the stigma associated with being sexually abused
