@ Raykalm: I think one needs to differentiate between the Mongol Empire under Cengiz and those of his followers who converted to Islam. The Mughals for example were not exactly Mongolian. Yes they had Mongolian heritage but they were extremely Persianized. By the time of Akbar they had forgotten Chagatai and had become total natives.

Mongols and muslims during ghenghis khan???

Most of the mongols at that time were patrons of tibetan buddhism. still today they follow tibetan buddhism. the name dalai lama was bestowed upon by mongols.

there is nothing islamic about ghenghis khan or his mongol empire.

We Pakistanis should understand that, yes, Genghis had some very bad traits within him (and God is the judge of that), but also consider positive facts about him.

- He never allowed idols or worship of himself.

- He was tolerant of all religions.

- He adopted Islam as the state religion of the Mongol empire.

- If not for him, we would be a semi-Buddhist semi-Hindu semi-Islam nation.

what o_O

Genghis Khan's religion is widely speculated to have been Shamanism or Tengriism, which was very likely among nomadic Mongol-Turkic tribes of Central Asia. The Secret History of Mongols chronicles that Genghis prayed to the Burhan Haldun mountain.

But he was very tolerant religiously, and interested in learning philosophical and moral lessons from other religions. To do so, he consulted Buddhist monks, Muslims, Christian missionaries, and the Taoist monk Qiu Chuji
he never built a islamic empire.

They picked up Islam as state religion. And brought it to our people.

They picked up a specific sect, in exchange of loyalty of that sect towards mongols.

I have heard several times that mongols almost wiped out islam anyone knows something on that

Yes, the infamous massacre of Baghdad.

Mongols were not Muslims even in the time of Genghis Khan's descendant Halagu Khan, The OP know misleading history. Halagu Khan only ruined Iran and killed Caliph and put the "House of Wisdom" on Fire in Baghdad.

I have heard that a Shi'a Muslim sent a letter to the Mongols to attack because the Muslim Empire was run by Sunnis. Is this true?

No but they certainly collaborated with the mongols in ransacking of Baghdad and massacre of its inhabitants permanently altering the landscape of Iraq even as of today.

Genghis Khan was a great man. I consider Genghis Khan, Halaku Khan and Kublai Khan (especially Genghis Khan) as my role model, mentor and try to follow his qualities.

Everybody should study the life of Genghis Khan and follow his qualities.

Not surprised given the historic facts certain elements will continue to side with butchers of baghdad.

Turks were dogs of mongols in that time,in jochi ulus, only thousands of real mongols ruler class, other soldiers were all turks.

Ignorant boy, mongol tribes/clans were all hostile to one another and killing off eachother, Turks helped them to unite and organize without Turk involvement it was impossible, our deep state shadow government have always been powerfull and influential than you know.. We are in the armies but our involvement does not end there..

they are followers of buddhism. it was the mongols who helped the dalai lama and his gelugpa sect gain supremacy in tibet over the other 3 schools of tibetan buddhism.

exactly Quoting from a western Documentary... cant upload for you as it is too big.....

"" their libraries destroyed, the wealth plundered, the empty city stood mute in the aftermath of devastation that descended upon them- not from the west, but from the east. It is known as Mongol catastrophe. The mongols were nomads from central Asia. In the 13th century they rampaged across much of euro asia between Ukraine and China. It was not long before they entered Islamic Persia. To the cultured urban Muslims, these guys were bunch of savages. City after City fell before them. It was only a matter of time before they reached center of Islamic power. On February the 10th, 1258 the Mongols took Baghdad. According to the Arab chroniclers, the Mongols put Baghdad to torch and killed 10 thousand inhabitants. Mosques and libraries and the collective knowledge of centuries were all set ablaze. Within less then 50 years the Mongols seized the heart of Islamic empire from the Arabs. Islamic civilization seemed poised for destruction. But then something remarkable happened.

Historically, most significant thing about the Mongols, would be that they became Muslims, most of them, in the end, converted to Islam. Then Became after being tremendously destructive forces, some of the greatest patrons of art in Islamic history.

The conversion and its lasting effect was extraordinary. Within a decade, The mongols had gone from building towers of human heads to building mosques glorifying God. The land conquered the conquerors. The mongols themselves became Muslims""
