What's new

The froth of Khan

what political career? - last time he had to go to some remote area of mianwali to win election by 5000 votes! - his party in the last 15 years has won 1 seat (his), and in the recent by-elections in swat where their campaign slogan was 'stop this war', his party got hammered!

What political career does MQM have? Starting before 1985 in the lap of Zia-ul-haq with lullabies from state agencies, with all the state funding and resources ontop of that all those dity tactics that they use, In 30 years they are able to secure only Karachi.

Kamran Shafi. The latter seems to be quite reviled on PDF.

ex-army major who has a 'burr' up his a** against the army - some rightly but mostly 'BS'.

Kamran Shafi really has to focus on the established issues instead of generalizing by just looking at a few political Generals and associating many unconfirmed things with the Army...many times he goes overboard in criticizing the Army and ends up demonizing everyone and loses track of the subject.

His article on strategic depth whereas it was never a doctrine of Pakistan army is strange to say the least, unless he knows something i do not know...at least he does not claim any other source which links the strategic depth in Afghanistan as the new doctrine of Army.
Yet he focused the entirety of his column on this concept and bombarded the Guderians and Rommels of Pakistan Army (his pet sentence) without letting the readers know that Strategic Depth in Afghanistan is in fact something which neither our High command ever adopted nor was it ever simulated in any war games by any formation or area command.
He could have bombarded the concept as a flawed one but he went overboard and ridiculed the Army for something which was never part of PA doctrine nor was it ever executed in any form.

He does highlight many valid points as well but the objectivity is lost in many of his articles which in the end helps little to develop a clear understanding of the underlying concept.

Miawali may be a farfarlang area for you not for imran. That's his home town, going back to somebody's hometown to muster support isn't anything bad. I can understsnd your situation, you may be living in Karachi and that might be giving a sense of arrogance as well and ontop of that you may be a Babur Ghori fan but i can tell you one thing winning through votes, no matter how thin the margin is, is better then getting votes on a barrel of gun and getting all the campaign money by running a mafia.

My friend i know fatman17 and he is far from arrogant.
He is a great patriotic Pakistani and you would do well to understand his point of view as well.

When TTP was slaughtering the Pakistanis Imran was not criticizing the TTP actions as much as i wanted him to.
However at the start of the Swat operation he did what i recall one of the worst things i could expect from him.
I was enraged that Imran Khan went to Buner after Army recovered it from the clutches of TTP and criticized the government and Army for the war...did he go and criticize the TTP which captured Buner and butchered those who tried to stop this illegitimate act?
No he did not because he knew what TTP would do to him, on other hand how easy it is to criticize the Army which sacrificed its lives to win back the city...because he knew the Army would not harm him.

His party is not well organized and is a one man show, his work in Mianwali and support is admirable but overall his party is not at all an entity which can influence government policy in any way.
Instead of waiting for a revolution, it would have been better for him to slowly build his party into a politically potent force, this has not happened so far.
He instead has been inspired by third rate people like Qazi Hussain Ahmed and Hameed Gul and is too much obsessed with many things which he cannot do much about...being out of the assembly by boycotting the election is also something that has ensured he cannot have any say at all in the assembly.

The list of mistakes made by Imran is long and he needs to learn from it, he is not corrupt but he needs to build a political party through which he can influence the policy.

IK just does not seem to know the fine details of political game.....he might be an iconic cricketer and exceptionally well player in that field ..but as some one says- you cant expect a very good writer to repair your air-conditioner...
that might be the reasons for his straight forward and rather un-diplomatic answers or, blunders ....

but thats my opinion which may be wrong....:cheers:

Imran khans comment was racist
and babar ghauri said noting wrong since we know Imran khan lost his sita white case
and babar ghauri was quoting that imran khan cannot be a member of parliament because according to the atricle 62 and 63 in constitution of pakistan
A person shall not be qualified to be elected or chosen as a member of Majlis-e-Shoora (Parliament) unless :-

(a) he is a citizen of Pakistan;

[64B][(b) he is, in the case of the National Assembly, not less than twenty -five years of age and is enrolled as a voter in any electoral roll in-
(i) any part of Pakistan, for election to a general seat or a seat reserved for non-Muslims; and
(ii) any area in a Province from which he seeks membership for election to a seat reserved for women.]
(c) he is, in the case of Senate, not less than thirty years of age and is enrolled as a voter in any area in a Province or, as the case may be, the Federal Capital or the Federally Administered Tribal Areas, from where he seeks membership;

(d) he is of good character and is not commonly known as one who violates Islamic Injunctions;
imran khan doesnot have a good character if you see his past

Sadly electing people because they are good at one job for one that is completley different is a recipe for disaster.
Imran Khan should have stuck to building hospitals and dateing pretty girls he is out of his depth in politics. When people talk of Imran for president i think its about as bright as Shane Warne for primeminister of australia.

Thanks to both sides though for the well thought out replies that made the thread such an interesting read.
