If, if, if... As you know Barzani is in great relations with Israel, the US and the West too who protect him, invest in Erbil and train and supply the peshmergas. Russia’s Rosneft signed a deal worth 4bln USD last week to export kurdish oil by a pipeline to Turkey but I guess Erdogan’s actions were really a hurdle for KRG to get in good relations with all the countries you mentioned huh? As for Iran I don’t have an idea what their relations with the Kurds there are.
So you want to tell me that Erdo and his circle got in good relations with Barzani to protect Turkey and not to make money from it (billions of trade, construction, petrol trade and most importantly contraband of everything you can imagine)? If they didn’t then Turks would’ve suffered a lot? Guess what: I don’t see PKK’s attacks to have stopped or Iraq’s kurds to have stopped the PKK from making bases there, recruit and train terrorists all over Northern Iraq (it’s the opposite- they help and protect them because they have one goal). So did Turkey’s government support for Barzani helped us fight the Kurdish separatists or strengthened them? Think real hard about that.
Thanks to Barzanis invitation, Turkey has a army base in Iraq, otherwise they wouldnt be able to enter, might even receive sanctions like Russia in Krimea when Irago government was against it...
Turkey export 9 billion dollar goods every year to those areas..
Yes, @Kamil_baku has brought up a very important point here that I'd forgotten to mention. Turkey certainly did use Barzani to its advantage in the past to gain a certain level of access and control in Iraq. Yes, he seems to be favoring the Americans/Israelis at this time but nothing's written in stone in international affairs. Personally I expect him to fall back under the Turkish influence again once the current crisis is managed. Thanks to Barzanis invitation, Turkey has a army base in Iraq, otherwise they wouldnt be able to enter, might even receive sanctions like Russia in Krimea when Irago government was against it...
