The Fight against PKK Terrorism

Type in youtube "Gerilla tv herekol eyleminin görüntüleri 26 temmuz 2017" and "Gerilla Tv Şırnak Besta Deriyê Beroj Eylemi - 16 Ağustos 2017" and "Amed lice qiledar tepe eylemi 24 ağustos 2016" and just analize the videos. Can someone tell me how are they getting so close with that terrain? Can someone that completed military service explain me how are they able to pass by the soldiers that are responsible for watching the areas of responsibility? They are getting really really close and the soldiers cant even realize what is happening. What is wrong with that? Lets say they are very tired oh right then why the hell are they sending ones that cant keep up effective work. I am just freaking out while watching that footage. Its just unbelievable. So any one that served? If someone had some firefights it would be good to explain what are the reasons of so not effective surveillance and bad performance.

It is not always an optimum solution to rely only on technology and fortifications. You need soldiers who rely also on their personal skills and are always on alert. Quality not quantity counts. To be in defence makes you always target. If you see the latest numbers of the neutralized rats you will see most of them are neutralized by UAV's, Combat Helicopters and Air Force. But this is not the final end effective art of combat. So, for weeks we couldn't neutralize the killers of teenager martyry Eren Bülbül. In this and other areas you need very special trained soldiers with strong physics and psychics, who know the area very detailed and are capable to make traps and and can operate at least 10 days alone in 3-4 person teams. They must be backed with continuous intelligence and secure Com. Most of you understand that we have only a limited number of personel who can do that job. For example "far intelligence teams", who can even identify targets in enemy area. One example o a failure is a martyred Sergeant who was on a comparable mission at Al-Bab with an ÖSO scout in a car and lost orientation in bad foggy weather.

Yes I am sure that with technology only and heavy fortifications the thing is not going to happen but when I analyze those videos I see that the terrain and the equipment the soldiers have are enough to identify the target and assure the security of the camp. I know that its hard to be on 100% 24/7 but its strange that they can move under the soldiers noses that way. With the tactics the terrorists use with multi angle attacks they need at least 15-30 minutes to prepare for good coordinated action in a distance that is short enough to secure the fast and smooth attack that we see in those videos. They are unleashing big amount of power to shock the soldiers and while they are searching for cover they take especially the defensive positions where there are high caliber weapons or machine guns and then they are closing very fast from the close positions they took in the sneaking phase. I am not sure what is the regime for the men that are on post at the observing positions but I am sure that if they scan 360 trough binoculars or trough the termals they have on their rifles with every man in his area of responsibility for example every 2-3 minutes they can detect them on that terrain without problem. Its not dense mountain that you can take camouflage. There are rocks and valley like places that you can observe from the taken position that is usually peak and high and enemy movement can be seen. I am living in mountain area to and I am thinking about those things while for example on a walk or a camp. When you are in the sneaking phase lets say that all of you took position in the 15-30 minutes period I said that you are close you must have some additional small amount of time that you are exposed while you plan the last unexpected tactical details like lets say there was a big rock now its gone. I mean on that terrain if you are observing good its very unusual to not detect the enemy. Even if there is a sniper if you know the terrain you can see the risk areas and the places that you would want to take cover if you were on his place. About the intelligence teams. Yes we have them. Yes they are extremely good but some conditions must be met in order to use them. We were hearing a lot about them in 2015 not much in 2016 and I think we didnt hear about them in 2017. The preventive point comes from intelligence services, larger scale surveillance like UAVs and special forces recon teams. If one of those 3 worked we get news in sort of "Terrorists were neutralized while in preparations for attack". If they didnt work then we get "On X base we had attack. Large scale operation was started to neutralize the terrorists." I think the commanders must rethink the concept of those smaller light defended bases and camps.

Brother, good analyzed. I wanna tell you some things , which are not "urban stories". We failed 2003 in Suleimania, not cause of " Ankara not responding". But cause, the so called " Maroons" were taken in a professional sudden and suprise attack, most of them and the commander were later punished; they had shown before weaknes and leaks in their private, life and talked to "foreigners" trapped in "sexual" traps, made especial for them. We failed at "Süleyman Sah" , cause we fighted not against ISIS but against very professional and ultimate equipped non "labeled" warriers - attackers, who killed before more than 70 " ÖSO scouts" and then warned us to evacuate or they would neutralize our guarding platoon of the tomb.
Go back to Kardak, it was only individual initiative of a commander and much much luck.
Unfortunately, we need much more professianls. Remember "the coup attempt";
some F-16 s in the air, but no active Hawks or ESSMs from Navy.
Sometimes you fight an enemy , who is not the one you see or who him pretends to be.

Turkey waited too damn long, now Russia and the United States are supporting the kurds on its border with Syria. But Iraqi Kurdistan is landlocked and surrounded by countries who have been attacked by Kurdish Terrorists. They also have a crap economy and require trade with its neighbors to survive. Turkey,Iran and Iraq should preasure Birzani to stop housing ppk,Pjak and all other terrorists or face sanctions and trade cuts.

Turkey doesn't play it's own game, we aren't big enough of an actor to do what's right for our interests. We like any other regional actor has to seek permission from one of the top dogs before any action can be taken. Look at what US and Russia is doing, they are trampling over all kinds of international laws, who can stop them, only themselves.

ANKARA: Turkish counter-terrorism police arrested three people in the southern province of Adana on suspicion of recruiting for Daesh.

The arrests came amid heightened security because of fears that militants may cross the border into Turkey as they lose territory in northern Iraq.

The counter-terror operation on Friday involved a police helicopter and a raid by special forces on the homes of suspected Daesh militants.

Turkey says it has detained a total of 5,000 suspected Daesh members and deported 3,290 foreign fighters from 95 countries trying to cross Turkish territory.

Ankara is on particularly high alert after the defeat of Daesh in Mosul and Tal Afar in Iraq, where 174 Turkish militants from Daesh have surrendered to the Iraqi army, Hashd Al-Shaabi militias and Kurdish peshmerga forces in Iraq.

A warning sent to Turkish border units said: “Daesh has shown major losses with the latest operations. The militants who are fleeing from the group, which is in the process of breaking down in Iraq and Syria, may infiltrate into Turkey through human smugglers or by disguising themselves as refugees.”

Turkey’s efforts against militant sleeper cells gained new momentum after the Daesh attack on the Reina nightclub in Istanbul on New Year’s Eve, in which 39 people were killed. “After that attack, about 2,000 people were arrested in country-wide security operations against Daesh sympathizers,” said Merve Seren, a security analyst at the Foundation for Political, Economic and Social Research (SETA), a think tank in Ankara.

“The main objective of these operations was to prevent the terror organization from recruiting militants from Turkey, to avoid their possible preparations for a terror attack and to eliminate their propaganda activities for spreading the messages of Daesh.”

Turkey has established risk-analysis centers at airports and bus stations to spot foreign fighters trying to cross Turkey to join Daesh militants in Syria. Anyone suspected of doing so is deported to their country of origin.

Turkey is a risky country for anyone to cross in an attempt to join Daesh because it is almost impossible to avoid the tight security, Seren said, and a no-entry list of potential foreign fighters, established through international cooperation, was also key to Turkey’s counterterrorism efforts.

Other analysts said counter-terrorism efforts were being increased in line with Ankara’s perception of the threat. Deprived of territory, Daesh had “resorted to classical terror incursions and individual acts by utilizing sleeper cells,” said Kadir Ertac Celik, an adviser at the Ankara Center for Crisis and Policy Studies (ANKASAM), another think tank. “Daesh could carry out attacks in Turkey to convey the message that it remains strong.”

Celik said policy disagreements between Turkey and the West over Syria and Iraq may benefit terror groups, who could be used as proxies to conduct terror attacks in Turkey. Counter-terrorism operations were a message to the international community about Turkey’s resoluteness in fighting terrorism that threatens international and regional peace, Celik said.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan criticized the West last month for not acting in solidarity with Turkey when Ankara “had to fight Daesh alone,” and not sharing intelligence with Turkey in its counterterrorism efforts.

An honest question, when would turkey be able to do that and what would they need to be able to do that?

Lets say we are just sitting without doing nothing against the forming state on our southern border. With that american support for them what is the scenario that they are thinking and what is our future in NATO?

The USA has SBIR- satellites , UAV's and more for real time intelligence.
Türkiye had a plan for blimps, what happened to them ?

USA uses them already

Beyond that, the JLACMENSS is extremely effective. The 360-degree coverage extends 340 miles, allowing the paired aerostats continuously to scan an area the size of Texas between the cities of Boston and Raleigh, North Carolina.
While currently used in the Department of Homeland Security as part of Operation Noble Eagle, it has the potential to deploy to combat theaters such as Korea, Europe or the Middle East.

That is what they want, they are trying to make Turkey's membership of NATO unbearable by threatening Turkey's sovereignty and economy. They are going want to make Turkey quit NATO soon i suspect we will see escalation in affairs after next election if they're desired candidate fails to gain power.

I hope when the time comes we will be powerful enough.

The economy is going bad, the inflation is in double digits, unemployment is high, the burden of 4 million refugees, the PKK and all the other terror organizations in the country will not be destroyed anytime soon, the military, the security forces, the education system are in knock down, Turkey lost all it's powerful allies and is getting isolated by Europe and the Middle East countries, more and more wealthy and educated people are leaving the country every day... the people are divided in two and the hate amongst them is growing every day. While half of the people realize that the country is collapsing the other half are blindly thinking that Turkey is a superpower everyone is afraid of. All that while Erdo can't even fart without a permission from Putin, the Americans or the Europeans.

Kurdistan will be formed in Northern Iraq and Syria and Turkey's spineless politicians can do nothing about it but just bark. Bark while leading the country to a civil war.
