The false propaganda about minority persecution in Bangladesh

One example is where they kept searching us cause we had Hindu idols in our luggage, It was pretty obvious that they were wasting our time calling all the other customs agents nearby to also check it out, it was a little stone idol and harassing us, we got a superior and we had to bribe him.

they gave us separate plastic drinking cups on a boat when we crossed a river, they took away they "good" steel ones and gave us plastic ones after they gave us the steel cups initially, everyone else who was eating had steel cups. we felt uncomfortable and just went back to our car, we avoided that specific ferry or eating at a ferry when we went back to Dhaka.

discrimination isnt cool, I went to a Palestinian protest last week with my Muslim friends and even some of my Jewish friends showed up. Discrimination isnt ok.
The problem(at least in the sub continent) is we are in a never ending circle of discrimination/persecution because of the other two countries...Indians won't stop discrimination against muslims because Pakistanis and Bangladeshis wont stop discriminating against hindus and the later two wont stop because of Indians....nobody here believes 'Charity begins at home'..in BD muslims in general have a view that hindus automatically are loyal to India...and in India muslim bengalis are automatically labeled as Bangladeshis...It won't end unless someone takes the first step.

IDK why we cant get along in South Asia when we get along amazingly in the USA, Mine and my sisters best friends are Muslims, and I consider them practically family.

@Anubis bhai, my parents told me that Hindus had to go take another bath if they got touched by a Muslim person. Or completely empty the water pitcher and wash it out if a Muslim person did as little as touched it.

These kind of discriminatory fixtures are the features of antiquated regressive Hinduism, not Islam, which considers all people to be equal. Of course there are some progressive Hindus, but by and large Hindus in the majority in India are still caste-ist folks.

We had a family friend (uncle) who went to visit his Hindu business partner in India and was staying with them at their invitation. He went to the kitchen to get a drink of water one afternoon and this Hindu housewife started screaming that he being a Muslim had defiled her "Rasoi" (kitchen) just by touching her glass. This is the kind of hilarious morons these people are. Just low-class semi-educated Gadhas, not fit to live in the modern world.

And Indian Hindu upper castes will frequently treat Indian shudra/acchyut lower castes far worse than themselves (if they are Brahmin or Kayastha). If a shudra person goes to visit a Brahmin or Kayastha Household, Shudras will be given tea in a steel or Kansa (Pewter) cup, not a China cup (the idea is that Shudra's lips will defile the nice china cup).

This type of blatant discriminative behavior is par for course and widely accepted in India by Hindus, and this is how narrow-minded most of them are. Everyone knows this.

While Hindu H1Bs in foreign countries cry about getting discriminated against. Hilarious.

There is no caste-ism in Islam. This shudra Hindu guy is being so untruthful about his treatment in Bangladesh, its not even funny. Even the story about him being Bangladeshi shudra is something I have questions about. No one in Bangladesh that I know, discriminates against Hindus. If they did, we would not have so many Hindu Ministers, top police people, celebrities, singers and models.

There might be goondas once in a while doing damage to Hindu households in Bangladesh (one-off oddity), which gets blown out of proportion by Hindus who are always playing Victim card and looking to bad mouth their country of birth and fishing for an advantage somehow, in spite of given every quota in the book. There would not be a peep in the media if Muslims razed homes of other Muslims, or even killed them.

These one-off events of Muslim goondas mistreating Bangladeshi Hindus are just the powerful taking advantage of the weak - and have little to do with any organized pogrom to convert Muslims and have whole organized discrimination campaigns like CAA/NRC - such as by RSS/Shivsena we see in India.

I do not disagree with the vile castism practiced by Hindus in the subcontinent... unfortunately some of that has creeped into the muslim culture here also even when it is opposed by islam...another vile practice is dowry which is also wide spread in Muslim society in Bangladesh...the effects of castism are not as pronounced as the hindu practices but it is thei
re...fortunately our state or parties do not persecute minorities as a policy...but social discrimination against hindus is there... criminals target everyone for crime but they do face less resistance when targeting hindus specially in poorer areas....I do not know if this can be classified as discrimination or persecution in the traditional sense but my experience is that the broader society does treat them differently.
From what I understand caste difference and class difference are intertwined in Bangladeshi society...the very existence of 'dalit muslims' however oxymoronic the term might be is proof of the influence of caste system in muslim society here.

Off topic, are you aware of caste-ism in Bengali Muslims? First time I heard about the existence of castes among Muslims was from Indian and Pakistani Muslims, have never heard of it in Bangladesh.

Heres a pretty good study...in some ways it confirms my assumption about castism...it is related to class...since lower caste people historically have been poor and less educated they have been disenfranchised socially, economically and politically... specifically when it comes to people whose caste are more visible the social discrimination is stronger..groups like bedeys and methors.

It does happen, My family is Bengali Hindus and we are discriminated against. If you are against Muslims being discriminated in India you should also be outraged about the same discrimination we go through in BD.
thats why we had to move to the USA

and BTW my family are Shudras and supported the Pakistani Independence in 1947, its unfortunate we couldn't be left to live in peace, we would have love to contribute to a secular humane Pakistani nation.

Why do I doubt this so much?

Any discrimination Hindus face in Bangladesh societally is more than made up by recent quota steps made by Hasina in the last twenty years. Proof is in the pudding. Not only have Hindus returned en masse back from India (job salaries and societal treatment as ethnic 'Bangals' in India is far worse than in Bangladesh), they have availed of the quotas in education and jobs to the hilt since they have started returning. The returnee numbers have been confirmed and validated.

Regretfully, most Bangladeshi Hindus do not feel ultimately secure in Bangladesh because they feel India is their ultimate homeland as Hindu Rashtra. So, while they make money in Bangladesh, they siphon all their money back to Kolkata. New houses in most high class neighborhoods in Kolkata are invariably being built by Bangladeshi Hindus. If one looks at remittance figures, most Bangladeshi Hindu salaries are also going to State Bank of India accounts.

Hindus for some reason feel that their future is not in this country, yet we reward them with money, quotas, high administrative positions and they stab us in the back.

There was at least one Hindu CEO of a Bank who split town with Billions of dollars of bank depositor money and he is residing in Canada, his money is in Swiss and Canadian Banks.

Bangladesh Govt. did not do jack squat to catch that guy or extradite him - I am sure they have the means and wherewithal to pursue this with Interpol and the Canadian govt. But this Hindu probably paid off top Awami League functionaries and shut them up. Corrupt is as Corrupt does.

Why do I doubt this so much?

Stories, my friend, stories.

Just like having a bacon burger after a workout.

There is no Muslim caste-ism that I am personally aware of, or ever was, in Bangladesh.

This simply does not register with me, as a Muslim. It goes against every known Islamic value or precept that I know of.

Sure - you don't look the same way at a poor/rich person or between people who are educated (or not) but that is in every known society in the world.

Same here i have never heard of it in Bangladesh. But a friend who is from Lahore told me that caste is very relevant in their society and they even seek to marry within the same caste.

You’re saying bangladeshis discriminated against your family?
quit lying, My family is Bangladeshi Hindus and even I faced discrimination for being Hindu whenever I go there, Imagine how the poor Hindus feel in BD?
Ye the Hindu neighbor I have never complained about how he’s treated in the society but he did have his opinion of distaste as to why we slaughtered cows. Had you guys been majority, bengali Muslims would have been lynched just like Muslims in India
Im not ok with punishing Bihari's as a whole for what their fathers did, let them intergrade since they are pretty much Bengalis culturally now. I don't like how the Muslims in India, Kashmiris or Palestinians are mistreated, I just wish the Muslim world and Pakistanis to offer us the same courtesy and understand our very serious grievances.
If we can empathize with you, why cant you empathize with us? do you not see us as Human beings?
Thing is whatever atrocities hindus faced in east pakistan wasn’t without justification. Everyone knows the massacre of Muslims in Calcutta during division
One example is where they kept searching us cause we had Hindu idols in our luggage, It was pretty obvious that they were wasting our time calling all the other customs agents nearby to also check it out, it was a little stone idol and harassing us, we got a superior and we had to bribe him
Bd customs aren’t biased to Muslims either. They searched me and tried to tax me on duty free products
they gave us separate plastic drinking cups on a boat when we crossed a river, they took away they "good" steel ones and gave us plastic ones after they gave us the steel cups initially, everyone else who was eating had steel cups. we felt uncomfortable and just went back to our car, we avoided that specific ferry or eating at a ferry when we went back to Dhaka.
Isn’t that what you guys do to lower caste Hindus? Lol the irony

It’s the herd instinct. In Asia the people are same but they want to appear superior so upper/Lower caste… hindu Muslim etc.
in foreign lands the same people stick together because there’s white colored tension

Absolutely
There was a report an Indian Hindu wouldn’t accept delivery from a guy because the guy was Muslim and he defiled the package with his touch. I’ve never seen muslims do this kind of bs

Im lucky cause my family is rich in BD, Im not discriminated in my local area where my grandfather was pretty prominent and alot of his former students (one of them are local Imam), its whenever we leave I feel like like

oh and they did plan to kidnap me when I went back in 2006, but I say that was due to my family being rich primarily.

I don't understand how a young man from rich Bangladesh family becomes a Marine in the US !
Marine corps tend to attract some hardcore young men !
