Yes. It is called 'radar'.

Well if it ain't as formidable then the Chinese wouldn't make stealth fighters that look similar. Could have said pffft we can detect American new stealth fighters with ease and stealth fighters are obsolete blah blah blah.

Same for the Russians.

Airborne detection of stealth aircraft may already be an operational capability. In a series of tests at Edwards AFB, Calif., in 2009, Lockheed Martin?s CATbird avionics testbed—a Boeing 737 that carries the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter?s entire avionics system—engaged a mixed force of F-22s and Boeing F-15s and was able to locate and jam F-22 radars, according to researchers.

Seriously...The main problem with these kinds of discussions is that foundational technical issues and principles are not well understood by interested lay people and this leave the doors wide open to physics defying claims by those with biased agendas. Hint: The Chinese crowd.

On the other hand, YOU should know by now that I always support my arguments with credible technical sources and have always encouraged people to double check what I say.

Good that Safriz opened a new thread for F-22.

PPl says F-22 can kill you silently...ok it is stealth, but its firing missiles towards the enemy planes can alert the enemy jets and will get response time to evade or jam it. May be it is not as successful but a group of enemy fighter engaged against few raptors can know the presence of F-22 and try to locate it by other passive means.

Of course some radar is better at detecting "stealth" than others. Is this an arguement against stealth? Of course not. By deploying stealth, you take some radars out of the equation completely...limit the ability of others...and make your aircraft harder (not impossible) to kill. War is often a game of degrees...a 20% edge is worth having (not saying that's the true percentile, making a point)

Yes Raptor is superior and formidable fighter... you don't need question about that.... what ever J-20/Pak-Fa is still in development phase... USA got plenty experience in R&D and in development of sophisticated systems.... where as Chinese are able to copy jets (not in offensive manner) instead of research....

Raptor is a brilliant machine in BVR combat, however other jets like the Typhoon and Rafale , F-15s have been able to shoot down raptors in mock dogfights.
