The whole world is being westernized because we have an inferiority complex. For example, in many Middle Eastern and North African countries, young people prefer to listen to western music or westernized Arabic music, rather than Arabic. Why don't people in the West listen to Arabic, Turkish or Chinese music? Because they don't have an inferiority complex like us. Western cultural imperialism has already conquered the world, I'm afraid. I just don't understand this admiration for western culture (basically anything western), I really don't.

Partly because present day western culture allows greatest room for people to lax their standards and people have natural laziness. Even older western folks shake their heads at the modern consumers and materialists.

i thought chinese and other east asian music was popular in the west? korean music is everywhere, everyone in asia knows Liu Dehua, Zhou Huajian, etc. movies made by Jet Li, Jackie Chen, Zhang Ziyi, etc. are also really popular?

Somewhat off topic but I noticed recently when I do search now in google webpage the chinese character entries are not displayed properly. But it still works fine when searching from google toolbar.

I havn't confirmed whether it's because of firefox or google.

Mostly westernized. I don't think real indigenous popular music still exists in East Asia (maybe some in Japan, but not much elsewhere).

It need not be that way. There needs to be a cultural alternative. The government should think about those issues, nowadays even some senior officials are starting to take the neo-western view.

J-pop is not what I would call Eastern exactly.

Communism did come from Europe... but the CCP is not Communist.

Communism means the "abolishment of private property" and complete "state ownership".

The last time I checked, I own plenty of my own private property. In fact... China has a large "private sector", and a market economy, which goes against the very fundamentals of Communist ideology.

China's system is called a "Socialist market economy".

Apparently it has to do with the new feature called 'instant' option beside the search box. If you disable it then should be ok

This is not a true danger since the People's Republic of China is already morally corrupt. The only real danger is that the PRC ruling class might lose their favored status. The modern generation of the CCP, from Deng Xiaoping onwards (NOT including Mao), have lifted hundreds of millions of Chinese people out of poverty. Who else has done so much for the Chinese people?
