U.S Trump asked military for strikes Options on Iran nuclear program site, before he leaves office

So imagine the other side promises to lift sanctions and in return the Arak reactor stays empty, all the uranium is thrown out and then the same as before with something tangible being given away for vague promises from the other side that will never be fulfilled and no consequences for the other side for non compliance on their end!

If such a thing happens a firing squad should welcome back that fool zarif and his moron spineless boss....I am fuming just thinking of that..sorry.
Ok..now on a seroius note...few years back I had the pleasure of watching few videos about Iran's nuclear cycle...that is starting with mining the rock..puting it through many many many different steps just to turn a ton of rock into a shovel of yellow cake...and then again putting the yellow cake through many many many processes to turn it into that 3% enriched uranium...

The next iranian who sits on the table to negotiate for iran should be given a mandatory hands on tour of the entire uranium process so that he can understand how much sweat and tears goes into making a kilo of enriched uranium..
If he knows the effort first hand he will be less valunarable to give it up easily...
Zarif and company are paper pushers...they have no idea what they are trading. I wonder if he ever saw a piece of uranium in his life...iran would have been better off if he did...next time send some one who knows what he is trading.

I think the SL should have a new fatwa that says: "any nuclear negotiator who sells more for less will receive a healthy dose of radiation as punishment".

Sanctions by the Numbers
The Geographic Distribution of U.S. Sanctions

By Abigail Eineman

In February, CNAS launched Sanctions by the Numbers, a project to track U.S. sanctions designations and delistings. In this second installment, heat maps show the most heavily targeted states in three periods of time: over the course of the Obama administration from 2009–2017, the Trump administration from 2017–June 2020, and a snapshot of the past decade through June 2020. The maps rely on ten years of sanctions data published by the Office of Foreign Assets Control at the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

Obama Administration Designations by Country, January 2009–January 2017
Sanctions-by-the-Numbers-Obama-Map-01.jpg

During the Obama administration, 655 Iranian individuals and entities were sanctioned under U.S. authorities, making Iran the most-sanctioned country in the world. However, other states are close behind, which demonstrates a broad application of sanctions during the Obama years. Colombia and Mexico were the second- and third-most sanctioned states, due to a high number of counter-narcotics designations. Mexico also owed its high number of designated entities to organized crime and drug regimes. Russia was the fourth most frequently-sanctioned country during the Obama administration, with most of these designations tied to Ukraine.

Trump Administration Designations by Country, February 2017–June 2020

The Trump administration’s maximum pressure sanctions campaign against Iran is strikingly clear when mapped. In just three years, the Trump administration has levied almost 300 more sanctions on Iranian entities than the Obama administration levied over two terms. Only Venezuela is close to Iran in overall designations, though many of these are sanctions on the Maduro regime’s individual aircraft.

In the past three years, the United States has moved from a wider utilization of sanctions to highly concentrated efforts on fewer targets, as shown by this interactive time-lapse map.

Overall Designations by Country, 2010–2020
Sanctions-by-the-Numbers-combinedv2-graph-02.jpg

Across ten years of sanctions designations, Iran has been the highest priority for both administrations. While the Obama administration applied sanctions to a wider range of countries, the Trump administration has opted for heavy sanctions pressure on a few high-priority target countries.

Methodology

The resident country for each designated individual or entity was extracted and tallied. Where resident countries did not accurately reflect the entity’s true location, the true location of the entity was used. For example, a ship owned by a Chinese entity but sailing under a Panamanian flag would be listed under China, not Panama. This project tracks only U.S. sanctions as listed by the Office of Foreign Assets Control and not, for example, the UN Security Council or EU sanctions.
  • Burma includes all entities sanctioned pursuant to Executive Orders (EOs) 13619 and 13651.
  • Counternarcotics includes all entities sanctioned pursuant to EO 12978 and the Foreign Narcotics Kingpin Designation Act.
  • North Korea includes all entities sanctioned pursuant to EOs 13687, 13722, and 13810.
  • Nicaragua includes all entities sanctioned pursuant to EO 13851 and the Nicaragua Human Rights and Anticorruption Act of 2018.
  • Iran includes all entities sanctioned pursuant to the Comprehensive Iran Sanctions, Accountability, and Divestment Act of 2010; the Iran Human Rights and Hostage-Taking Accountability Act; the Iran Threat Reduction and Syria Human Rights Act; as well as EOs 13553, 13608, 13846, and 13876.
  • Ukraine includes all entities sanctioned pursuant to EOs 13660, 13661, 13685.
  • Russia/SSI includes all entities identified pursuant to EO 13662.
  • Magnitsky includes all entities sanctioned pursuant to the Sergei Magnitsky Rule of Law Accountability Act of 2012 and the Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act.
  • Venezuela includes all entities sanctioned pursuant to EOs 13692, 13850, and 13884.

I had no idea that most of the major akhoonds were so supportive of the jcpoa. I distinctly remember IRGC and SL being against it and I assumed the akhoonds would also be opposed or at least suspicious of the deal, but it seems they were very happy about it.

Well, this is one of few videos by Dana which I tend to disagree with from ground up.

First, please note that not all clerics he mentions are actual maraje'. Some are of lower ranks.

Second, the fact that there are differing views among the clergy on anything other than fundamental matters of faith is well known. And since parts of the clergy tend to be closer to the liberal camp than to the revolutionary one as far a their political positions are concerned, it is hardly surprising that one would find clerics (and even high ranking ones) supportive of the JCPOA. Therefore, referring to the marjai'a and to its views on politics as some sort of a unified bloc is flawed from the outset.

Third, with regards to the revolutionary / anti-imperialist maraje', Dana's method is problematic: indeed, every statement he quotes was made in the immediate aftermath of the JCPOA's implementation. He fails to cite subsequent declarations by these same revolutionary clerics, which results in conveying a partial and biased image to the viewer.

Can we blame them for endorsing the JCPOA on the very day it was announced? Not really, because:

* Maraje' have to weigh their words very carefully, afterall they each have a considerable following of devoted Muslims who take their advice seriously. Rash and impulsive decisions are not to be expected from them, just as they will not engage in political radicalism on a whim. Take Imam Khomeini himself, for instance: he tolerated the Pahlavi monarchy for some 40 years and was content with offering advice in hopes that the regime would correct its mistakes. It was not before the shah consented to the capitulation treaty granting legal immunity to all American citizens on Iranian soil, that the Imam finally rejected the legitimacy of the shah in 1963 and called for his overthrow.

* To reject or violently protest the JCPOA on the very day it was concluded, when the Supreme Leader had
himself come to accept it, would have been akin to taking issue with the Leader. So it was out of the question, given that Seyyed Khamenei had already preferred to let Rohani go ahead with it or rather, had already been compelled to do so both because of the pressures from within the liberal quarters of the establishment and because those quarters' hand had been strengthened by a popular mandate, considering the result of the presidential election that brought Rohani into office.

Dana's objection to the maraje' and his claim that the Leader would have been able to block the JCPOA with greater ease had the maraje' rejected it, is questionable. In reality, we don't know what the same maraje' thought of the negotiations leading to the deal as Dana makes no mention of it. His suggestion that they didn't bother to inform themselves is highly unlikely. In all probability, the revolutionary maraje' close to Seyyed Khamenei's views were pretty much in agreement with the Leader all along.

And so it is more realistic to assume that they and the Leader collectively considered it unwise to prevent the Rohani administration from going ahead, both in order to maintain domestic stability and in order to let the people who voted for Rohani go through a pedagogic experience by which they would witness first hand the deceptive nature of the US and thus deliberately rally behind the policies recommended by Seyyed Khamenei vis a vis western imperialists.

Therefore what seems to be the case here is the opposite of what Dana suggested: it's precisely because the Leader had come to the conclusion that the Rohani administration is best given this opportunity, that the revolutionary maraje' joined him. Like-minded maraje' would certainly have backed the Leader just as much if he chose to prevent the JCPOA from happening, and it's not as if they opposed the Leader's early criticisms of the deal.

* Indeed, revolutionary clerics cited by Dana then levelled very harsh criticism against the handling of the nuclear dossier by the Rohani administration.

As an example, see these July, 2019 statements by ayatollah Jannati (who is among the clerics cited by Dana), where he expressed the view that Iran would have been spared the current headaches had it set fire to the JCPOA:

* Last but not least, many clerics were and are among the most prominent activists against the Rohani administration's policies on the nuclear issue.

One of them is hojjat al-Eslam Nabavian, a member of Majles who not only monitored the negotiation process with great care and studied the JCPOA in utmost detail, but he did also an excellent job raising the public's awareness about the deal's many flaws and shortcomings. Nabavian also successfully debated major liberal proponents of the deal (including heavyweights like Tajzadeh and Zibakalam). I would actually warmly recommend listening to his presentations.

People should be just as worried about rohani doing something idiotic in hi slast days as much as the orange abomination doing something stupid in its last days over here.
Where the hell is the supreme leader to hold Rohani accountable ? Amazing that the IR became a cuckold establishment.

.
It's also the masses who have to learn these lessons too... This time, rohani and zarif do need to be stopped if they are going the same path as before and also not be allowed to lie on tv and tie the destiny of the country to jcpoa whcich is what they will be doing in the next coming months. I have heard that the currency is already improving which was predicted by some as the markets are being manipulated for the people to feel good about zarif 2021. The currency will continue to improve and markets will suddenly have things available and zarif will say it's because of biden and therefore let's go back to the jcpoa...
When Omid Dana said this in one of his videos where rohani admin is manipulating currency and goods for the market by viciously hoarding then trickling out in the next coming months to manipulate the mass vote. Someone in this forum then said that indeed the currency has already shown signs of improvement even though there is absolutely no change from the US side thus far, which tells me that nefarious entities inside the country are hoarding at unprecedented levels. These evil hoarders like the "sultan of coins" have reached unprecedented levels under 8 years of reformists and rohani.

.
Trump was good for Iran. Let me use a example. A woman who tires of guy and just says "fcuk off" then leaves never to be seen again is infinitely better than a woman who tires of a man. Then gives him hope. Then tires of him. Then gives hope etc etc.

The first woman might be bad but she at least get's it over and forces the guy to get over her and move on with his life. The second woman keeps the guy in perpetual slavery by giving him hope.

With Trump iran would have been forced to adopt and find herself in a changed reality. This blunt fact would make Iran adapt and build herself a new order with emerging China which could mature in time to win-win for both countries.

With Biden like that woman who gives hope Iran will again starting buying chocolate boxes hoping to carve a new relationship with the West. However down the road in 4 or maybe 8 years another US administration will come along and do another "Trump" on Iran. The suffering will be perpetuated. This is the story of US/West and Iran.

The other thing I note is Iranians blind themselves by seeing Europe as separate entity to USA. They should know while they may have differances but when it comes to Iran they are all on the same book, chapter if not the same page.

I guess what I am saying stop falling for the "good cop/bad cop routine" ffs .................... !!!

Iran should never trust west and buying/importing anything from west should be last option for Iran. Now biden is the good cop indeed to slowly disarm and genocide Iran (libyan model). Future of Iran as I said should be connected to Asian bloc and Iran should go for nuke and build up a strong airforce.

I strongly believe Iran should for nuke like Pakistan did. Just get it over with. Once done there is no going back. Those who have a problem will learn to live with it. Iran needs to look east. To China and focus on building bridges with Pakistan, Afghanistan [both countries have heavy Persian influence and have been part of the Greater Persian civilization goung back to Acheamenids] and Central Asia.

So much potential for cooperation and opportunities missed. China and its allies have been waiting for a long time to fully embrace Iran but what did we do, sign contracts with bloodsucking colonial western companies to leech us. Iranian leadership really needs to revise its foreign policy, 4 decades in and we have achieved nothing significant.
