The Dark Knight Rises: India’s Light Combat Helicopter

The entire project for only $70 million?? That is insane!! If this is true HAL stands to make a HUGE profit from this program. The project unit cost is $8-14 million per LCH and the Indian forces have a requirement for at least 200 units- at $8 million a unit that is $1.6 BILLION USD in revenue! If orders are increased or exports are secured revenue will only go up.

Its because LCH is based on ALH..

Well, you are right.

It has the same transmission box, Integrated Defense Suite and Automatic Flight Control System as the Rudra. It also uses the ALH’s proven hingeless composite rotor that makes it extremely agile.

To add to its survivability, its fuel tanks automatically seal in case of a crash.

This could be the best indigenous product that DRDO ever built as far as aviation sector is concerned.

Why would India need to buy apache? To have something proven n actual combat.

When will this beauty be inducted? nice one

If testing ever ends lol. Bro I ask this question everyday for LCA, arjun, LCH, rudra, Arihanth, Artillery, Saras 15 seater plane, Hal HJT-36 trainer and bunch of other ****. But no one knows or I guess doesn't give a ****. Tomorrow Iaf will come up with some issues with this helo and then the program will run for another decade like hjt-36. Trust me man this is one question you should never ask an Indian, it hits the nerves.

At least you'd tried to build one by yourself, you earn my respect. Trust me what you doing will make positive impact in the long run. Hope these weapons are not used agianst China....

Some time India behave just like a kid get lost in a candy shop. I mean guys you have too much choice when comapred to China, which you means you can't always stay focused on your own R&D. Now you realized how important indeginous weapons are, that's a good sign although it take times.

It is time we had faith in our indigenous programs and the organizations that execute them. And in the times to come, what ALH-Dhruv has been to the LCH, LCA-Tejas will be to the AMCA. I have every reason to believe that the AMCA will fly before 2018 and it will be a masterpiece, and aerodynamic wonder, just like the Light Combat Helicopter.

I share the same feeling :) all the best HAL & DRDO
