The recent "fell of a cliff" relations between Indians and Pakistanis on this lovely forum notwithstanding..

in my many years of sometimes just observing, sometimes participating relationship on this forum..

we see people from literally all over the world, native stock or immigrants

people from the US, UK, Scandinavia, UAE, Saudia, "middle east", or India, or Pak.. or wherever

there's almost always a contingent among that crowd who disagree with how their leadership is going about things

which is the natural democratic way of going about things in free and open societies (to whatever degree of openness and freedoms)

not so with the Chinese !

but where are the Chinese dissenters, Xi haters ?

do none exist ?

is the CCP perfect ?

where are they ?

We criticize the government in Chinese social media a lot, but that's our own business. our criticism is constructive and we offer meaningful discussions and possible solutions, it's nothing like western and Indian destructive China bashing evil designed propaganda, and we are result oriented people, we care more about what results the government can bring about, we know that even we can badmouth the government 24/7 like what we used to do from 1911-1949, but if the government only knows how to overpromise but never delivers the results, it could turn out to be the worst disaster to the nation.

Most of the so called criticism r nothing but just malicious lies. CPC has done a good job stopping the spread of covid-19 in China.

The only criticism I can give CPC is that they shall have interfere in HK much earlier and stop the violent street protest and arrest those instigator. CPC shall have implement a series of housing reform in HK 5 years ago to stop the rising / out of control housing prices. Many HKer suffer becos of the greedy housing development conglomerate and lack of government social monitoring.

we would love to have an idea of the political situation in China from the common man, for example if you hate Xi and some of his policies, or if you think a better guy would lead China going forward.. who, what.. what are the policy differences etc.. y'know.. usual politics discussion ?

For years , in this forum, I repeatedly reiterate I m against Xi to have another term, and in Mao's 127th birthday thread only a couple of days ago Chinese posters differed on and debated about him, you didn't see them?

I wanted to mention that fellow - @Chinese-Dragon. He wasn't so much anti-China government as much as he seemed to be against Communism and fond of "Dharmic" beliefs, hence he was a hit among the Hindutvadis on the forum who used to fondly call him CD... CD.

He had a sarcastic way of dialogue which I never liked.

I wonder how he fared in the Hong Kong protests because he used to say that the Chinese government allowed him the special act of being critical of the government through the "One country, two systems" thing.

The Chinese are very evasive when it comes to political discussions.

I met a MILF-y Chinese business woman from Hong Kong at my cousin's party last year. Very western and all. When I asked her about the Hong Kong protests just to make some conversation, she suddenly went cold and just started evading the topic. I was confused at first. Seedha saadha sawaal hi poocha tha.

I later realized it's what they grew up with. Not to make assumptions but the fear of Big Brother is real.
