The Bengal Tiger roars into Olympic final

Congrats for her, her performance was spectacular.

Too bad we could not keep her with us.:undecided:
Can't say I really blame her, resources for a gymnast in Bangladesh compared to Russia must be down right minuscule in comparison.

Regardless, I hope she does inspire a youth of Bangladeshis that try to try out sports that aren't just cricket.

Hopefully Tripura Gymnast (Dipa Karmakar) also inspires Bangladeshi youth....she is from just across the border in a place where some Bangladeshis claim should have belonged to them.

I think there is a good gene stock in the area for gymnastics. There needs to be focus in tapping it by both countries....though I guess India is currently in the better position to do this better.

ah just went through wiki.. she was born and brought up in russia..
so its not like she left bd for russia coz bd did not allocate resource... more likely that she did not find a place in russian team so chose bd briefly till she got a call...

She talked about it though. It was a brief decision from her part in a junior team. She is a dual citizen. She can still represent Bangladesh if she chooses to. No bar.

Last Olympic a US gymnast represented Bangladesh in London.

Almost all of the Tripura Bengali are Bangladeshi origin gone there after partition,so is Dipa Karmakar.

So? She identifies as Indian, competes as Indian and is therefore Indian.

Indian flag flies high in Tripura....you better remember that.

Now get back on topic.

The article didn't implies that she was born in BD.She is like 2nd generation British Bangladeshi in London.

.
She won gold last night, didn't she? Margarita Mamun, I saw her name on the top in the final. What happened at the end?

. . .
The Bengal Tiger

india and awami league already working on plan to extinct REAL Bengal Tiger, most prominent symbol of Bangladesh. As usual gullible 71 chetona class jumping with cosmetic make over.

.
i was replying to the notion that she left bd due to lack of resource...
It is not clear whether she decided to return to Russia due to lack of opportunity, but anyone would think like that.

I make it clear for you, She was borned in Russia to a Bangladeshi immigrant family, practiced gymnastics during her childhood there, at first tried to represent Bangladesh coming here in BD,then after some times she returned to Russia due to some factor.

. .
Suppose if She had stayed in BD instead of Russia, She would end up as a doctor, engineer or BBA student from a private university. :coffee:
I dont think she would had stayed anyways. Her mom is a Russian gymnast and her trainer. It was probably her daddy's insistence she represented BD. I dont see any other reason.
