Calm down man, i got cousins that are half Guangdongren and half Nihonjin. No problems.

Chill, anyways, Guangdong is like my 2nd home ; i've been to Guangzhou, Shenzhen, HK and surrounding villages plenty of plenty of times. Am also semi-fluent in cantonese. So yea, Guangdong has a very soft spot in my heart.

The idea of "tier" isn't official, rather this classification is frequently used by media, academic or business purposes.

These 39 cities are the more important cities from an economic/development perspective:

• The 4 Direct Municipalities (中央直辖市; Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Chongqing)
• Capitals of the 23 Provinces (省会; 含10个副省级市)
• Capitals of the 5 Ethnic Autonomous Regions (自治区首府/省会)
• The 2 Special Admin Regions (Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR)
• The 5 Vice-Province Cities (副省级市; Dalian, Qingdao, Ningbo, Xiamen, Shenzhen)
