The American Dream Is Alive In China

The American Dream is in China? Hmmm...Not really...

Xianggang is China, but not really as much China as we would've wanted...

I'd say people lately got craving for over the top mansion apartments with like 500 square metres. I'm not approve of that.

This housing is more befitting a good image of a proletarian citizen https://sh.lianjia.com/ershoufang/107100509330.html

.
I am sure you wold defend your home country if it was grossly misunderstood or unjustly attacked, but it doesn't mean you have to move back. It is OK to take pride of the progress of ones home country, even if he/she is still living in a foreign country for personal reason or by personal choice. No need to feel offended or to be aggressive.

I am not offended. I am just pointing out the hypocrisy prevailing here.

Yes, we plan to sell our million dollar house and move back to China next year. We plan to retire soon and enjoy our lives in China. Home, sweat home.

Home "sweat" home indeed. :D

. .
Looks a staged photo

in the West, let’s say Germany, the government pays for housing, foods, clothing and everything for the poor.

she with her 2 kids will get some 1,000 Euro per month. Free apartment with heating, free tv, free healthcare, free public transport when looking for a job, free clothing, etc.

The only thing she has to do is looking for a part time job and sends her kids to school. The government is very serious with schooling. The police will arrest her if she refuses to send her kids to school.

Same here. If you are poor you get free housing, free electricity, free heat, free water, free phone, free cable, one free meal a day, and about $500 month in spending money. (People wonder why droves of people are jumping our borders)

However you have to play by the rules. If you are some drug dealer/addict/thief or a troublemaker they will boot your *** out into the street. So don’t feel sorry for some people you see because that was their stupid choice.

So China is great, but not for you? Who wudda thunk that?! :D
China is not as developed as America for sure, but the difference is not that much today as in the past.. Majority of families own cars just like Americans, and have a decent salary comparable to some EU countries such as Portugal and Poland: https://tradingeconomics.com/country-list/wages?continent=asia

And overseas returnees from the US will have far better treatment than graduates from universities at home. People who choose to stay in America for multiple reasons, but the trend is that more and more people return: the figure in 2017 is 8 in 10:
https://qz.com/1342525/chinese-students-increasingly-return-home-after-studying-abroad/

However, from my observation, people from some poor countries such as india would rather die in the USA than go back to their home countries...:D

There’s like 600,000 Chinese students studying abroad (as of 2017). Even 2 out of 10 staying (120,000) is an insane number compared to 20 years ago where the total number of students was only 60,000 or so.

Countries don’t have wide open borders but have limits on how many Chinese can stay and you are WAY passed the max. Notice the gap between the blue and purple bars doesn’t change much (except for 2013). That’s probably the max.

That is great, and I support such development fully. Good for China and its people!

Let China do what it wishes, but also allow USA the same courtesy, that is all I ask. Why the endless organ-measuring contests?

China is a very beautiful country although the government could be less intrusive and invasive of people's privacy and basic rights. Other than that I think China would be the ideal country for immigrants all over the world to move to and reside. Immigration would be good for China and I'm sure they will appreciate it.
Forget it!

China is not an immigrant country. China is for Chinese only. The percentage of foreigners living in China is non existent. Foreigner wanting to become chinese citizenship is more difficult than winning a Nobel prize.

Or another example

the number of Vietnamese that immigrate to Japan in the last years is greater than the total number of Vietnamese immigrants to China in the last 400 years.

That should tell you everything because we are chinese‘s closest akin.

Lol... Such a ridiculous reason...
Check the data for indian students to see what kind of nonsense you are talking about...

No. If you mean the increasing number of Chinese students returning home is due to the limitation set by the USA, other than the reasons I have given, then, prove it, for example, show me the number of indian students who stay in America after graduation are also similar to that of Chinese, then there might be a limitation. If you can't even understand such a simple logic, then your are retarded AF, total waste of my time..

Unfortunately racism still exists in some countries and it will take time, in some more than others, to rid their societies of this disease of racism, but it must and it will eventually fade away. I will have to if Chinese wish to replace America.
Yes very unfortunate that racism is wide spread.
China will change eventually, the question is if heading to the right direction. But now and foreseeable future China is not a country for foreigners. But hey we shouldn’t give up hope. Look Germany and Japan: they were two probably most xenophobic countries in the world. germans call foreigner as „Ausländer“, Japanese call them as „Gaijin“. It’s equally they were calling all foreigners as Niggers. You know ...the Blacks. How things have changed now in Germany and Japan!

...Is the real American Dream. :enjoy:

"One Country, two system", remember? Average Home Size for a mainland Chinese family of 3 is 120sm, or about 1300SF. I guess this is why HKers are so pissed as they used to better off than regular mainlander, maybe "One Country One System" would be better for them? Who knows, are those HKers actually fighting for democracy?

The OP's article may benefit those who have an open mind. BTW, do you want to talk about the percentage of home ownership, an important component of "American Dream"?

I am not offended. I am just pointing out the hypocrisy prevailing here.

There is nothing hypocritic about. One may be physically confined to his current location of residence, but he can still have a free mind to think and to speak. Many elite Chinese have gone back to China, and it's one of the reasons that there are so many world class companies in China, while people from SA can only boast about the numbers of CEOs working for foreign MNCs.

And considering the number of international students in the US:

Really, no indian students want to go home...

For Chinese students, when come back, similar income, similar lifestyle, work in top companies, closer to family, maybe a little bit more crowded, but not a big deal...
But for indian students, the difference is between the Heaven and Hell...
However, I am not going to laugh at indians, as back to the 1990s or even the early 2000s, no Chinese student want to come back either due to the same reason.
