At present there isn't a tangible solution to deal with the problem with India looking to divert the natural flow of the indus river and potentially withdraw from the IWT entirely.

With a little ingenuity and cocaine, a potential out of the box solution may be the only route for the sake of the natural environment.

Designated the Big Lulli Pipeline the idea is to essentially import water from China, a massive transboundary pipeline similar to those that transport natural gas, here, instead for water.

A better solution is to enlarge the canals. If we deepen the canals by 50 feet and broaden them by 50 feet on each sides, we will not need new dams. The canal system can store a lot more water. This solution will also address the rapidly declining indus basin aquifer and declining underground water levels.

Every NICOP holder should be charged 10 units of his local currency to renew his/her card every year.
Similarly, every male citizen over the age of 18 must pay 100 ruppees to renew his NIC card every year.

This will net the govt about 2 billion dollars every year. These funds should be invested in canal expansion project and creating solar panel manufacturing company in the country. Pakistan needs to manufacture solar panels on a large scale.

Eventually, once the powers that be allow the most valuable commodity to change from oil to information, we could all have free energy. Free energy will mean unlimited de-desalination and reverse rivers - rivers flowing from sea to land.

Let's assume its engineering is possible, who will pay for it?

Will China construct a pipeline going upwards in elevation in the one of the most difficult mountainous terrain for over a 1000 kms ( that includes pumps large enought to pump huge quantities of water) as a gift? Or because a friendly nation asked it to?

Pakistani canal system has not seen any upgrade since the British left. Back then Oxford and Cambridge Engineers and the British Govt spent lots of pounds in R&D because it was British India. The developed world does not have water issues like the under developed world does.

Mass expansion of canals will provide employment to lots of unemployed folks. It will increase the agri output, rescue the indus basin aquifer. It is a no brainer! It will also make the country ready for a time when reverse rivers solve the worlds water problems.

NICOP and NIC renewal fee is the easiest way to fund such a project. 2 billion dollars per year is a lot of money.

Its sad to see that even today, those British companies which built the barrages do consulting work for Pakistan on those same barrages.

Don't think there's any need to ho that far. Their potential dams are within our reach...just bust em open with precision guided munitions & take what is ours. they won't dare retaliating after the busted nose they got on Feb 27th.
