Iran is a theocratic pseudo-democratic dictatorship.
Afghanistan is de facto ruled by tribal chiefs and warlords. There is at best a very shaky democracy in the making.
UAE is as the name says a group of EMIRATES.. so also absolute monarchies..
In Mauretania slavery, human trafficing and genital mutulation are prominent and there has been a military coup in 2008

Iran is a theocratic democracy in theory. Sounds absurd, but that's how it is. Any part of the system is elected directly or indirectly by the people's votes according to the constitution.

That is simply not true. Iran has a pretty unique system of government combining theocratic elements with democratic ones. However the current result is a de facto undemocratic authoritarian state.

On a sidenote the United States while having a very different, clearly democratic institutional system is currently showing strong tendencies of a de facto oligarchic police state..

Yes, is the good (compared to those it's compared with) .... but Pakistan needs to further strengthen it's democratic institutions and traditions (which were unfortunately attached in the last century by martial law rules .. etc).
