Texas Might Secede - First Signs of US Breakup?

Well he'll most likely be preident for another 7 and half years. I'm sure he'll make some drama up like Bush did to get his second term. Americans want this war to end within Obama's term.

Lets wait and see what the U.S. does with the world now during Obama's term :usflag:

Oamr, please do some research, u know nothing at all. It is certainly good to write some etional oneliners but u should also post answers which make sense. US will never break up bcz of a party. They never did, Republicans or Democrats, it will nothing change and US is DEFINITELY not going to split up. It's not Congo, Zaire or sth, it is a western country. There won't be any political breakup, BS!

First signs in potential break-up of the United States emerged two days back when Texas Governor, Rick Perry, in an anti-tax protest stated that Texas might secede from the union if state of affairs do not improve in Washington. A Russian professor, Igor Panarin, had earlier predicted the break-up of the US into six countries by 2010, due to rising debt and fall in the value of currency.

Texas is known to be an independent-minded state and Texans have always been proud of their heritage. Texas, in its history, has remained part of 6 countries (The US, the confederacy, Mexico, Spain, France and the once independent Texas itself). Texans like to honor the flags of all six States at the State House.

Governor Perry was not joking when he threatened that Texas could secede. The constitution of Texas or that of United States does not disallow Texas or any state from secession. Joining the union was voluntary and withdrawal can also be voluntary if the people of Texas choose to do so.

It is not a surprise to see such views coming from the Governor of a southern state at a time when an African American has been elected president. After all the American civil war between the north and the south took place at the issue of slavery and independence of blacks.

Bullsh&t, in the deciding case on the issue Texas v White 74 U.S. 700 (1869) the Supreme Court handed down a decsion that was unmistakable. The union is indivisible, not because a state might not want to secede, but because its citizens are at the same time citizens of the United States, and they are US citizens first and always. This is reinforced by the provisions of the 14th Amendment- that every US citizen is entitled to due process and equal protection of the law.

There is simply no nonviolent legal mechanism for a state to leave the union except 1- A Constitutional Convention called either by Congress, or by a majority of the states. Such a convention can if it so desires dissolve the Union, exclude certain members, only make minor changes or revamp any part of the current constitution they want and still call it the United States- it has no limits on its power.

The only other option is a successful revolution, going back to Texas v White, a successful revolution is codified in this decision. However, if any state thinks it can take on the US military and Federal Police forces- hahahaha!!!!!

Pretty laughable suggestion Texas would wish to break away. I dont think you know Americans very well, they some of the most patriotic sob's youll ever meet. What i love most about the US is that its a hugely open society and any freak, geek or unique can have their say. God bless America:) In a lot of other countries you would either be in jail or a looney bin. Some of those polls taken in the bible belt can throw up some pretty funny results, but Texas aint breaking away any time soon.

Hey, hey, I live in the heart of the bible belt, what funny things?

Actually, I have had second thought about this. I think the rest of the USA should kick their sorry a$$e$ out of the Union. They are just big headed rednecks. They are way too close to the Mexicans. AND the Dallas Cowboys are totally screwed up, too!!

Brings new meaning to the border battle between the Horns and Sooners too.

Texas have any nukes?

Hmmm....

No, but they don't need em' .. they've got....

WALKER, Texas Ranger!!

"Chuck Norris has already been to Mars; that's why there are no signs of life there."
:smokin:

The US may break up, who knows. It would probably be for some reason like the Left vs Right divide. Bush really widened that divide, but it would take many successive Bushes to bring America to that point... But lets hope it doesn't collapse, Imagine the nuclear weapons problem!

Likewise Mr. Truth, you yanks haven't done any favors also. And by the way you are too close to those canadians, who is draining our money in health care, also. And ofcourse Patriots can't do sh*t without Brady, and don't even get me started on the Eagles.:D

I think it would be a great idea to kick texas out or let them secede. Of course that would mean all the military bases would be closed, Nasa would pull out, and all the hurricane recovery money? Kiss that goodbye. Wonder what texas would look like with 30% unemployment? The Mexican drug cartels could just open up shop in Texas then too. Border security? Have fun with that on your own too. Texas would soon be a third world country if they seceded.

One last thing though, for all the non US people. Rick Perry, the governor who talked about seceding....he's a blithering idiot.

I respectfully disagree with your post. This has nothing to do with Obama being a African American president. This is all about our failed leadership in both the congress and senate. Our politicians forgot that they represent the people. Both Republican and Democratic parties are to blame for this mess. As far as Texas succeeding from the union, it will never happen.

So far my parents lost over $300,000 in their retirement plan and are very angry at the government. I guess you would be angry if you lost most of your life savings.

I think it's time for out political leadership to start helping out the workers in this country instead of throwing billions in to the failed banks. My honest option is that a revolution is more likely that Texas succeeding from the union. :usflag:
