This was formed on August 15, 1947 at Peshawar from the personnel of No. 1 RIAF Squadron, with Sqn. Ldr. Z. Ahmad as its first Commander. The squadron was equipped with eight Tempest MK II aircraft.
5. Flying Officer Mukhtar Ahmad Dogar - Nov 4, 1948
While returning in Dakota from an air supply mission to Skardu, Flying Officer Mukhtar Dogar was attacked by two IAF Tempest fighters. One of his crew members got martyred and the navigator was injured under the heavy enemy cannon fire. Dogar continued to evade the Indian fighters by flying down to the tree top level over the twisting Indus River in a narrow valley. He became the first recipient of Sitara-i-Jurat in PAF. He retired from PAF in 1968 as Air Commodore.

7. Sqn Ldr Bahar-ul-Haq
The T-37 four-shipper first flew on the 17th August 1972 after several trials of candidate instructors. The team was finally formed under the tutelage of the famous 1965 War hero, Wg Cdr Imtiaz A Bhatti, SJ, the then Officer Commanding of BFT Wing; other formation members included Flt Lt Aamer Ali Sharieff, Flt Lt A Rahim Yusufzai and Flt Lt Niaz Nabi.

9. Squadron Leader Sajjad Haider
Commanded the Flying wing at Sargodha during the 1971 War. He served as Air Attache at Washington D.C. and retired as Air Commodore in 1983.

b. Flight Lieutenant Mazhar Abbas
Retired in the rank of Air Commodore.
c. Flight Lieutenant Dilawar Hussain
Saw action during the 1971 War and shot down an IAF Hunter over Dhaka on 04 December, 1971. He went on to become an Air Marshal and retired from the post of Director General Pakistan Aeronautical Complex, Kamra.
d. Flight Lieutenant Ghani Akbar
Left the airforce as a Squadron Leader and started flying for PIA. He is now retired.
e. Flying Officers Arshad Chaudhry
Rose to the rank of Air Marshal and retired from the post of Vice Chief of the Air Staff in 1997.
f. Flying Officer Khalid Latif
Retired in the rank of Group Captain.
g. Flying Officer Abbas Khattak
Saw action in the 1971 War. He rose to the rank of Air Chief Marshal and commanded Pakistan Air Force from 1994-97. He is now leading a retired life.
10.Wing Commander M Zafar Masud
Passed away Oct 7, 2003. Masud was the base commander of Sargodah Air Force base in 1965 Indo-Pak war and was retired from the PAF in Sept’ 1971, his promising career cut short by his opposition to the military suppression in East Pakistan.
