SRINAGAR: Ten Indian soldiers were killed and 25 others were injured Saturday in Srinagar when the bus they were in drove over a landmine.

The soldiers were traveling from Uri, bordering Pakistan-administered Kashmir, to Indian army's main headquarters in Srinagar.

The blast ripped through the military bus, turning it on its side, and shattered the windows of six other vehicles, witnesses said.

Indo-Pak composite dialogue on Monday: Kashmir, peace and security issues likely to dominate talks

NEW DELHI: India and Pakistan are set to launch the fifth round of the composite dialogue process here on Monday even though the two-day foreign secretary-level talks have been slashed to one day.

They are, however, expected to announce some Kashmir specific confidence-building measures (CBMs) as agreed at the technical group meeting in Islamabad on Friday.

Moderate Hurriyat Conference chief Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has also been invited to the meeting.

It is expected that both sides may announce some Kashmir-related CBMs such as opening more routes, facilitating travel and starting cross-Line of Cross trade as agreed in the technical group meetings on Friday in Islamabad.

While starting the third round of the composite dialogue in January 2006, the foreign secretaries had committed to finding an amicable settlement of the Kashmir problem.

Since then both sides have exchanged non-papers on the final settlement of the Kashmir issue. Though the contents of these papers are not known, they had filtered out and it looked as if much convergence had been achieved. But, India took a U-turn after the July 2006 train bombing in Mumbai followed by other terror incidents.
