I'm from Kurram.... our people are just like any others in Pakistan. Very family oriented people; like most in FATA the sub-culture is unique. Very honour-based society and system. Some issues that need to be addressed (socially) and that should be tasked to local NGOs and to the schools. Contrary to popular belief, there is huge value on education. However due to unfavorable economy, people are forced to work to support family. Family always comes first.
one contributor to development of local communities is the fact that many people in FATA are now integrated in rest of Pakistan --like in Karachi. Main factor also is repatriation earnings from relatives working in GCC countries --some of those people have made good name for themselves and are sucessful now.
in Pakistan, there are jokes for all people of all parts of the country. FATA people are often teased for having bigger guns than brains, however we are loyal people and if we are your friend we will break our backs and ankles for you. If you are enemy, then you will wish you were never born.
hope it helped
