‘Tejas’ LCA project likely to be completed in 2015

Operational service.. yes, if the Air force is ready to induct a jet which is good for A2G and self defense(short range,R-73), then yes LCA is ready more than enough. It is the AIR FORCE STANDARDS which determines whether it is ready or not. Unfortunately IAF has high set of standards, so not ready to accept it till it reaches full operational activities.

High standard only for Indian products. They flex the standards for foreign products as theos eproducts come with heavy commission..

Corrupt Bastards... They (Generals) have made IAF pilots (Troopers) cannon feeder (MiG21). MiG21 should have replcaed by LCA till now...

would u say same after comparing the engines ,material of air frame ,radar ,thrust to weight ratio???lca might be an old project doesnt mean its components would be old..it evolved with time...

It certainly does evolve with time. Its still evolving such as fixing the issue with taking off from high altitude. No wonder this plane will take forever to get inducted. So this is a learning experience. LCA was started when I was in grade school. Now my kids are in grade school. Hopefully, when my grandkids enter grade school, this classic plane can be ready.

Another suggestion is to donate this plane to the museums and spend more money on Rafael or MKI. Spend money on something that will defend your country instead of a learning experience for your scientists.

I agree with you. But their swiss bank account has bigger numbers. At least that is a positive.

just buying Rafaels wouldnt contribute to our knowledge does it??we're not at war.our airforce is not bad now and besides we'll be getting rafaels, super sukhois and fgfa s in future..so i dnt mind their delay as long as they learn to become better and produce better

Some countries gone to any extent to fool themselves to an illusion that they make good plane.

Some members try to sooth their ego's by making such statements.
They are nothing more than fools of a greater order... that do not know they are fools.
If a members has no idea what they are talking about , they should refer to those who have worked in that industry for more than two years. Instead of making cheap shot statements.

No ego, but bitter reality which other never accepted and continues to live in denial mode. History is full of facts and really speaks themselves. have n number of examples who lied only for fake ego's and caught with pants down and then running here n their.

Some of the professional members/ experts proved to be lied numerous times.

There was no MK1 or MK2. There was only LCA. Since it has been delayed time and time again and had no hope of getting completed, they split it into MK1 and MK2 to claim its first phase was "done." MK1 is a joke.

isn't other planes called themselves MK2 model just they able fit IRST , HMDS and fire few more missiles when their first plane mode don't have IRST, HMDS , no night flying capability etc

our Present model is somehow better then some other countries MK2 models which yet to fly. Some other countries successful planes don't have IRST, HMDS no night flying capability is some of few thins which their successful plane don't have and our museum plane have ,

Might be those planes is not worth of museums.

Most of people talking with out any technical knowledge.

No proof to back that up. This is the sign of a fanboy who is simply hell bent on dissing.

@ Black Widow

You got support from faithfulguy, that alone should make you think about your point. ;)

just buying Rafaels wouldnt contribute to our knowledge does it??

Of course not, but doing the project in such a bad way doesn't either. Some more rational and simple thinking, some less dreaming and we wouldn't have the need to listen to these trolls and show what the potential of this bird is.
It's not the fighter that is the problem, it's manufacturers are, but lets hope for the best and that!

many people cant argue technically and only write their fantasies.
Now lets see...

LCA have IRST, HMDS, night flying capability, launching all ranges of weapons etc. in Block 1/MK1.
A) Now which plane which boasted have these thing when declared successful in near feature?
B) Do any of the their Bock-2 model came yet? with similar capability of present LCA?
C) Do any of the present Model which inducted have these things?

So even if LCA inducted lated is technically More advance then some countries so called yet to rolled out Block-2 model.

So instead of writing fantasise argue to technical points.

For me sign of fan boys are those who dont argue technically and run away.

Have you ever heard LCA MK2 will have onboard Oxygen generator which is already developed. any of the so called successful plane dont have even plan for that.

HAL has done commendable job in designing this 3rd rate piece of junk, albeit 30 yrs late

Still is more advance then some countries so called successful plane which was when inducted dont have any standard/ advance weapons.
and their Yet to be inducted LCA is at par their block 2 model which yet to be fly.

Do you have how many times Gripen crashed? their first plane of assembly line was crashed.

HAL plane till now not crashed at all. So talk on technical points not fantasies , if you have technical point to prove that this piece of junk then come with technical points.

Even one can say F-22 a piece of junk

The MK1 don't have IRST and the range of weapons is currently limited to R73 and 500Kg LGBs, Derby should be integrated soon, but otherwise they might wait for Astra, Sudarshan, Sudarshan ER, or Helina ATGMs. Spice PGMs and Kh35 could be added later, but only in the MK2 version

So even if LCA inducted lated is technically More advance then some countries so called yet to rolled out Block-2 model.

It still comes out capable, but the delays reduced the difference by far. When LCA MK1 will be inducted, JF 17 might have PGMs, various A2G and anti ship missiles available in PAF too, next to the LGBs and ARMs it might have now. It plain logic that you can test and integrate more weapons and systems, when you have the fighter ready and in operational service. Updating it then is the normal way all around the world and not making it fully capable with prototypes only, before it gets inducted into service.
LCA might had or still have higher potential, but as long as we don't get it in service, we can't get it out and that's where the Chinese and PAF went a more simpler and more effective way.

I think by the time this plane hits the market, it will be archaic. While its electronics and missiles will still be viable, the structural design has not kept pace. New radars will pick it out in the sky easily.

what will be the final config of the lca tejas mark(?) if there is a final?

Is the plane developing into Mk 2 now before its MK 1 is inducted?

The cost estimation now of the plane is US$31 mio a pc. When it is completed (Mk 1) it is probably costing $35 to 40 mio a pc
which is way more costly than JF-17 (Blk 2); J-10B; and about the same price as a SAAB Gripen; or a F-16 (Blk 60)!

Yes , thanks , you are right bout IRST thing,

Agree but don't you think at the end of the day you will standing the same position at same time. if in 1992 you buy Car and fitted a Car with AC in 2000 while all cars started to come with AC in 2000, so technology wise both car on same level.

MK2 is already under assembly.

Tejas is cost more because of the equipments it will carry inside. JF-2 (Blk2) is nothing then equip plane with standard things.

Moreover if you See Indian certification process, Tejas can get FOC and inducted when it able to fly at high angle of alpa with full load.

Full load dosent mean tejas either armed with Single type of bombs or missile and fly.

LCA still has the second highest composite content in a fighter aircraft .One of the smallest combat aircraft and add some RAM , it will have comparable if not better RCS figure for any 4 or 4.5 G aircraft.
