Tejas completes advanced weapon trials

Why is the LCA going to be deployed in far away south?

Like a pampered kid, LCA is safely protected deep far south in Tamil Nadu. In the entire India's history, this is the first time a Fighter-Interceptor is deployed in Tamil Nadu. What is LCA going to fight over there? Is it going to shoot down planes taking off from Chennai Airport? Because that are the only planes flying over there. Maybe LCA is only good for that and The Indian Airforce correctly knows that LCA cannot handle danger.

After spending billions, LCA is going to be the king of Tamil Nadu where it faces fierce opponents like 747, 767s and Cessnas. If you Indians have guts, deploy the "India's Pride" close to the Pakistani border!

If you don't have that much guts then atleast deploy it near Bangladesh's border. Bangladesh only has some 8 odd fighters which are worthy of mentioning while the rest are old generation fighters. Or is the Indian Air force scared that LCA can't handle even that?

In the entire India's history, this is the first time a Fighter-Interceptor is deployed in Tamil Nadu.
It's more about need.........since the squadron strength was going down, many southern squadrons were transferred to the west and the east. And since it's the Limited series production version(Mk. I), it will first be stationed close to DRDO centres, so that they can monitor it and improve upon the problems in Mk. II
And it's not TN, it's Bangalore, which means Karnataka, much closer to Pakistan;)

.
Thats why i insist that It is better to replace Mig-27 with F-15 Silent eagles?

MiG27: Role:Ground attack fighter
F15: Role : Air Superiority multirole fighter :

Hope you can find your answer. I request you to spend more time in reading post of good members (like Sancho, Somnath, Imran, Gambit , 500 and others) You will learn many things.. Any way welcome to PDF.

^^ LCA can carry out patrols on sea and can play vital role in coastal security
So why didn't IAF deploy other fighters till now? Is this sudden interest in coastal security more important that India-Pakistan-China-Bangladesh border?

It is going to be deployed in Sulur in Tamil Nadu, not the other place. Why Indians don't know even know about their own fighter?

First in Bangalore, then the squadron will be moved to Sulur.........
IAF begins establishing first LCA squadron
The point is that the South has defeciency of fighters and to fill this gap LCA has been stationed there................
South doesn't need a heavy fighter anyways. LCA is perfect for their requirements:agree:

Why do you come up with pointless claims? It is replacing Mig 21 squads there too and IAF had placed MKI squads at A&N before the Tsunami for coastal security in that area, which now are diverted to Kalaikunda and 2 more squads will raised in Tamil Nadu too. Not to forget that IAF had Jaguars with maritime attack capability towards the Arabian Sea too and is upgrading Mig 29s with similar capability as well. So IAF had always costal security in mind and is increasing this capability, with more advanced fighters coming in.
Wrt to placing LCA MK1, besides that it's replacing Mig 21 as mentioned above, it's quiet logical that you put the most capable versions towards the biggest threats and the less capable to the lower threats, that's why Super 30s, Rafales and LCA MK2s are meant for PAK/CH borders, while LCA MK1 and current MKIs are enough for the southern borders and coastal areas.

It is replacing the MiG 21's at the Sulur AFB,Dumbfvck.
See this you useless piece of trash. From where did the MiG-21 suddenly come to Sulur? From your $hit hole?

It is going to be deployed in Sulur for most of the time. Bangalore is only for stopgap lasting only till the squadron is raised. That is a standard procedure even in Kamra where JF-17 is manufactured.

Dude sulur base is in Tamil nadu, not in karnataka.

Bro. I guess he says Bangalore and thats for sure in Karnataka and that's where first squadron is gonna be placed and later shifted to Sulur which is in TN

The distance between Sulur and the nearest sea is 200km. So that's 400km taken out of the LCA's range. What kinda of a moron stations a maritime patrol Aircraft soo inland, that too a fighter the size of LCA which doesn't have much range.

Mate- are you an IAF strategist? I think the IAF knows more than you what to do with its fighters. Just because the first LCA SQD is going to be deployed in the South doesn't mean ALL LCA SQDs will be also. The whole point in the LCA is it is meant ot replace the MIG-21 and the MIG-21 is also deployed in the South so naturally some LCAs are going to be deployed in the South. The IAF are responsible for securing ALL of India so fighters (including LCAs) are going to have to have deployed in ALL of India. Additionally in the modern age fighters like the LCA are needed all across India to act as airliner interceptors if they go of course or worse. Sending a MKI to do the same job is ridiculously inefficient where LCA can do the same job for much less wrt costs. This is not the IAF admitting defeat- if the machine didn't fit their stringent requirments they wouldn't induct it at all.

.
I agree with you, LCA is good for Airline Interception. Also it can give quality entertainment to the passengers while doing some circus acts in mid-air. This way LCA can become a major player in Airline Service Sector.

And for the last time, LCA is not replacing any MiG-21s in Sulur. LCA is the first Fighter-Interceptor to be deployed in Tamil Nadu.
