Technically ill-matched Indian Air Force losing ground to PAF

India had technologic superiority in every air war, but lets look at the casualties.

1959- Indian jet shot down near Rawalpindi by Sabres, first aerial victory in the Pak-Indo conflict goes to Pakistan.

1965, right before the war- Indian jet was intercepted and forced to surrender at Ran of Kutch

1967- We also kicked your ally's *** too, Pakistani pilots shot down 11 Israeli jets in 6 day war

1971- 29 Pakistani jets were lost compared to 59 Indian jets according to independant researches, even though India says its maximum losses were estimated at around 130.

1979/1988 Afghan war- Kicked another one of your ally's *** by shooting down 8 intruders (4 Su-22s, 1 Su-25, 2 Mig-23s, and one AN-26)

1999- One Indian jet and helicopter shot down.

Please dont underestimate us again.

You should take PAF claims of air kills and losses with a bucket of salt.

"1965 war- 16 Pakistani jets lost compared to 110 Indian jets in DOGFIGHTS alone."..lolz

All this according to Pakistani sources! So this is all crap from start to finish.

Otherwise post your independent sources. And by independent I don't mean pro Pakistan sources!

Indian navy planes can take care of your whole airforce so relax and enjoy a coffee cup.
that is actually factual. Lack of parts (and nearly half the planes are grounded), retiring older planes, and you have another squadron down. Actually in the end of 2014 only 106 of the 193 Su-30MKIs that the IAF would be available in war.
@Donatello how many squadrons does that make ??

@HariPrasad
and our anti narcotics air fleet will take care of IAF.

IAF operated more newer generation fighters then PAF and still got their @ss handed over to them.

Poor maintenance and outdated aircrafts mar Indian Air Force’s capability to match PAF or the Chinese air force.

Defense PSU HAL has been unable to properly maintain, update or equip IAF with the essentials needed to put forth a respectable challenge for the rival Pakistan Air Force. Inadequate training also provided to rookie pilots is also one of the main reasons the Indian Air Force is heading towards decline, as far as maintaining standards is concerned.

On Tuesday morning, the dismal condition of IAF further came to light when a Jaguar fighter crashed 13 km east of Allahabad. Fortunately, the two pilots were able to eject themselves and escape the ordeal. The hapless condition of IAF can be judged from the fact that it is down to 35 squadrons, with some of them existing only on paper.

This was the sixth fighter IAF jet to crash since January of this year, a stat that should ring alarm bells for India. India’s hostile neighbour Pakistan has one of the best air forces in the world and so does China. India is involved in border disputes and has militarily been confronted by both Pakistan and China in the past. The IAF has a battle on its hands with its fast-depleting fighter strength, which will progressively get worse with the virtually obsolete MiG-21s and MiG-27s headed for long-delayed retirement.

Whilst the Chinese have almost three times the number of fighter jets than India, Pakistan Air Force is also flying close to the Indians. Pakistan Air Force has 21 combat squadrons at their disposal, with four more soon to be added to the overall quantity. India and Pakistan have fought three wars with each other, and it is a known fact that PAF has always bested the Indian Air Force in encounters.

The Indian Air Force has recorded more than 1,100 crashes since 1970, mainly due to technical defect and maintenance faults. Since 2011-2012, the Indian Air Force has lost 15 helicopters and 35 aircrafts in crashes.

Pakistan’s M.M.Alam is one of the most celebrated pilots in the world. He holds the world record for shooting down five Indian fighter aircraft in 55 seconds. Pakistan Air Force has also been instrumental in the Operation Zarb e Azb that has been waged by the country’s military against militants. With accuracy and precision, the PAF has been instrumental in taking out militants’ hideouts.

We need to increase our defence budget in this bad economy still we are doing good but with great economy we can turn into a real beast.

indian air force should never be underestimated. They still have more 4th and 4.5 generation planes at their disposal than we do, even if more than half their fleet is under maintained and undermanned, not to mention outdated.

This Article is Biggest Pice of Bull Shit I have read......

The picture in Artcile was for a Cheetak...

If PAF is so great then a) Why didnt they save their infantry in 1999 b) In 2002 ther was not a single Border cross over by PAF...

Haye Mard e Momeen tere nam is se hum Dar Gaye!!

In it's history, the only time the IAF performed a little was during the Kargil conflict as basically after input from US and Israelis, it carried out some ground strikes on the Indian side of LOC, without any opposition. Since then we have been just hearing fancy wordings of terminology.... seems the fire has gone out of Agni Pankh.

The situation is worrisome but can be changed.

First we should make sure LCAs and Rafales (ordered already) join IAF ASAP.

Till now we have ordered 272 MKIs.

But this number is not sufficient in my opinion.

We should order at least 300 Su 30 MKIs and at least 60 of them should be Super MKIs.

Also we should pay more attention to maintenance of existing fleet and replacement of older platforms.

Also dont forget that IAF wants to order 144 Pak Fas/ FGFAs. We must ensure they join IAF ASAP.

We also do need more AWACS Platforms (Phalcons) as they are great force multiplier.

But I also think we need Strategic Bombers. I hope in long run, we will get them. An option available to us is turning our Bears into Stand Off Launchers once all P8 Is join IN. We can equip them with Nirbhay ALCMs.

Aren't we are over reacting to pakistan claims about IAF, there is no doubt we need to upgrade our airforce, but this needs to be done logically giving more importance for indigenous products. And we are still developing countries and we have much important things to take care other than only engage in bar fight with our neighbor.

Anyway as our neighbour says if war goes wrong we have nuclear option with us:devil:

Exactly Sir, our wish list and allocated budget are not is harmony with each other. Like we were forced to settle on 18 F-16s Block 52 when actual order was for around 80 of them.

IAF tried it during Kargil and we were all day busy collecting the wreckage.

Utter garbage with zero empirical evidence to support it.

If you guys want to hide behind sensationalism, half truths and outright lies to foster a false sense of superiority over the IAF go ahead. If it comes down to it you'll be ripped to shreds and you know it.
