Team confined to stadium as Indian hotels turn cold

Why using the word shame??
It is usual for any country to provide all the cricket players with very good accommodation and services, if the same can be done Barabati stadium club house which itself is equal to a 5 star hotel.

That isn't the point. If everyone was treated the same, there would be no issue. In any case, I'm not talking about the decision of the authorities(I'm sure they are doing their best under the circumstances) but the reasons why that decision was made & is actually aimed at those who behave in such a manner as to force such decisions.

.
After a long, long time, I have to say I completely agree with the sentiments expressed by Windjammer in the above line though I think the diplomats issue is different & is a state-state issue. Whenever I see, individual Pakistanis, be they be singers, actors, comedians or such or as in this case, the women's cricket team being treated like this, I wonder what it says of us that this is somehow passed of as excusable behaviour. It isn't, it diminishes us greatly & is downright repugnant. Shame is what we should feel, we must be and we are better than this.
Of course. We Indians jump becoming apologists for everything. And start questioning entire country over few incidents.

Problem is when an Indian soldier sits alone in his bunker thinking about what would his family faced if he dies and don't even receive his head, and read that Indians are not even showing any remorse for his friend who died protecting them but rolling the same country red carpet to come and play, sing, dance, earn money and whatever you want.

I don't like what happened but whenever I remember the face of Hemraj's mother saying she can't accept the truth without seeing her son's face and his wife unconscious. Blame our Army for conspiracy and lie blatantly. I think, to hell with Red Carpet.

Why Morality only kicks for all except for our Soldiers.

I once saw a monkey's child got killed. His mother kept his body clung to her body. All monkeys in the group were gloomy and sad. This remained for more than day.

They are more emotional than Indians.

I will condemn this action because of these nut jobs but I won't blame my entire country for not allowing other people . Period.

Security was the reason Pakistan's women team was shifted to Cuttack, which has very good facilities close to stadium.

Indian Govt. won't behave this irresponsibly which will degrade India on world stage. And also against our culture.

It was some what amusing when members here jump to the conclusion even after the Pakistani women cricket team has expressed their satisfaction.

ICC Women’s World Cup: Team confined to stadium as Indian hotels turn cold

KARACHI:
In the wake of protests and threats by India’s right-wing parties, the Orissa Cricket Association (OCA) was forced to arrange separate accommodation for the Pakistan women’s team inside the Barbati Stadium in Cuttack, after five-star hotels showed reluctance to provide hospitality.

According to The Times of India, “The Pakistani players would have faced trouble while travelling from Bhubaneswar to Cuttack for the matches,” said OCA secretary Asirbad Behera. “So we have arranged for their accommodation on the Barabati Stadium premises.”

Pakistan reached Cuttack from New Delhi on Sunday to participate in the ICC Women’s World Cup. The side, led by Sana Mir, was escorted by a heavy deployment which safely took the visiting side to the stadium.

Several parties in India had issued warnings against Pakistan’s participation in India due to cross-border tensions which had forced the Indian board to move their matches from Mumbai.

According to the report, as most hotels in the city refused to host the Pakistani side under immense pressure and threats, the team will be confined to the stadium throughout the tournament. However, the remaining group B teams playing their matches in Cuttack – Australia, New Zealand and South Africa – will stay in hotels in Bhubaneswar.

Right-wing religious parties had warned hoteliers in Bhubaneswar against offering “hospitality to the Pakistani players”, following which posh hotels in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack withdrew, forcing the decision to house the players on the stadium premises.

However, the OCA promised the best lodging for the team at the stadium.

“Accommodation for the Pakistan team became a headache,” an OCA official told The Times of India before adding that the decision was taken to ensure safety for the visitors.

“We will provide five-star facilities to the players at the Club House in the stadium. The Club House is equipped with a world class gymnasium and swimming pool.
Amid heightened security

According to Indian media reports, around 600 security personnel, including officials, Special Security Battalion and Odisha police were deployed upon the team’s arrival to ensure their safety on the way to the stadium.

Director General of Police (DGP) Prakash Mishra visited the stadium to review the security set-up and held discussions with OCA officials about the arrangements, the report revealed. “Matches involving the Pakistan team will be played at Barabati and elaborate arrangements have been made to ensure foolproof security to the players,” the DGP was quoted as saying.

Manager urges fans show up at matches
Meanwhile, Pakistan team manager Ayesha Ashar said her side was well-prepared to put up an exciting performance in the World Cup.

“I am grateful for receiving a warm welcome from all the fans,” said Ayesha after her arrival in Cuttack. “I will ask Indian fans to come in numbers to watch our matches.

The correct position then is to either boycott the Pakistani artistes as a group or pressurise the government to send then back. What is not okay is for individual & groups to arrogate to themselves the power of the state & allow them to implement that even when they might have little or no support. We are a nation of laws & must behave likewise.

Btw, I reject your charge of being an apologist. I see things the way I see them & I'm sorry that it does not meet with your approval but my positions are mine & not based on a democratic vote of the members here (also, I'm not sure many Pakistani members here will agree with your terming of me as a sentimental apologist:P).

The pakistan team deserve what they get........you all know fully what the reaction will be in india so why even bother going?

They are not on bilateral tour where there is no other prarty. Its International event and if we don't allow them to play we may face action.

I don't ask you to agree with me or not.

But at the same time you have protest and few nut jobs who may make things worse than it is right now. This means practical solutions.

Of course govt. could have done better and Indian media will blast govt. too.

But I don't agree with generalizing of entire country.

The protest and denial of Pakistani singers, actors and hockey players on our two nation basis can be taken as appropriate response of emotional people.

Remember the death of Indian soldiers while you discuss about it.

The report says right wing goons protested and warned the posh hotel owners not to provide accommodation, that do not mean that Baramati club house is not a posh location and also offers good accommodation and service .

apparently, these lunatics tried pressuring the govt to send Pakistanis back, but they realized that it was an act of futility, just like the demonstration in Delhi over the rape case, and that's why these lunatics believe that they should do things their way, and somehow, few years down the line, when these lunatics will grow in number, the govt will either be forced to accept their ideology or will be brought down with a revolution, but the govt will not oppose the ideology when it becomes a majority, in complete sense, we are seeing a rise in new faith and ideology based society here.

Mate do not jump to the conclusion by seeing the report, If the facilities were not good then Pakistani womens cricket team would have said it to the media and GOP should have condemned it.

They are treated well there.

.
Well I see is your regular ranting with different words.

There aren't enough words to describe this kind of attitude and hospitality.
As for bravery, I won't comment on that. Because i don't want to embarrass you.
There is a fine line between digesting and digressing.
I am not bringing what happened to Sri Lankan players, because it was terrorist attack. Here few people are PROTESTING. In india you can protest over anything.

These people also protest against Cow Killing. :haha:

You didn't object when Pakistani team visited India for Cricket Series but when you behead our soldiers and blatantly lie about it, do you think people won't protest ?

Those players are getting more protection than most of the common people.

I condemn what has happened. But I won't hear a generalization from you or anyone.

Forming a nation on an idea to provide Safe and Prosperous land for follower of one religion doesn't always work. You can't change psyche of people after all.

Albeit, the beheading story has been well and truly busted, regardless of the facts, one saw same soldiers sharing sweets the other day.....the sentiments of citizens can never equate those of the fellow comrades...... it's the frivolous nature nature of your media and a commonly spread paranoia which exploits and brings out the true colours of your society.
Pakistani soldiers were also murdered by your soldiers, you think there is no sentiments running amongst Pakistani hearts and minds.... but we rather have our soldiers give a befitting reply on the border rather than making life difficult for visiting Shatrugun sinha or the likes...... all depends on how one measures their morals.

. .
You do realize that all Indians are condemning it but you are generalizing it to entire Indian society.

You all blame Indian media every now and then but don't notice that its Indian Media which is speaking against it
.

These people are nut jobs who are doing this because of recent tensions. They needed an excuse and they went ahead. They are bad for us too. And Rehman Malik like people are making it more difficult for their own people.

As for confidence, I won't give similar reply to you not because I can't but because I don't want to.

Expected better post from you sir.

If all Indians were against extremist steps by extremist Indian groups then today this would not have happened.

This is height of Indian Hindu extremism and its acceptance in India .

And no we dont feel sad for it it should be you should have been feeling sad for it since Indian govt failed to control them that too when India claims that they are political parties and not terrorists if that was so then it means Indian govt can not protect international event from Hindu extremists.
