RALEGAN-SIDDHI (Maharashtra): Social activist Anna Hazare Thursday demanded that India should "teach Pakistan a lesson" like it did in 1965 for the brutal killing of two Indian soldiers by Pakistani troops in Jammu and Kashmir.

"What they have done is simply unacceptable. How can they mutilate and take away the head of our soldier? This cannot be tolerated by any person," Hazare told reporters here.

"Pakistan seems to have forgotten the beating it took in the 1965 war with India. Don't they remember how they begged for mercy when Lahore was bombed during that war? But on and off, it keeps raising its head against India. We want a repeat of 1965. Pakistan should be taught a lesson again," Hazare said.

The 75-year-old also expressed his willingness to go to the border and fight enemy soldiers.

Hazare served in the Indian Army for 12 years before he was honourably discharged from service in 1975.

Lahore Front
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Battle of Lahore
Part of Indo-Pakistani War of 1965

The Battle of Lahore (Urdu: لاہور کی لڑائی, Hindi: लाहौर की लड़ाई Lāhaur kī laḍ.āī) or the Lahore Front were a series of battles in the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965 fought in around Lahore. The battle ended with an Indian tactical victory. However Indian forces stopped their assault on Lahore once they had reached outskirts of the city having captured Burki.[8] The rationale for this was that a ceasefire was to be signed soon, and had India captured Lahore it would likely have been returned in ceasefire negotiations.

Date 6 September 1965 to 12 September 1965 main battle, though sporadic fighting in this sector continued till ceasefire
Location Lahore, Pakistan
Result Tactical Indian Victory[1][2][3][4][5]
Indian forces gain 360[1]-500[6] sq. km. of Pakistani territory on the outskirts of Lahore with Lahore under Indian tank fire[7] but do not advance further into Lahore.[2

Stop it Indians all this warmongering and we all know cooler heads will prevail. Do not repeat what happened in 2008 where you got all riled up and then sat down when push came to shove.

Everyone with cool heads will sit down when push comes to shove given nukes on either side. But they have taken on pak three times and won.

There goes his credibility

I think he has it messed up..
65 did not go well for either side.

71 may be a better example.

India did not do a tit-for-tat in '71. A situation arose within Pakistan, and last thing Pakistan wanted was India's interference. But Pakistani Army could not stop the exodus of refugees, and it brought India into the picture. A situation arose, India got the right reasons, capitalized on them, created a war, and won it.

On the other hand, with Op Gibraltar in '65, the war began as a war, and ended as one.

Now that his name and fame is waning, Mr. Hazare is trying to capitalize on the recent incident, howsoever insignificant it may be.

I would rather like to take an exmple of 71.
120 messing up it full tank regiment.

Yes like 1965, when Pakistani Air Force was raining bombs down on Indian troops, destroyed approximately 70 IAF jets and won overwhelming majority of the sorties, took air superiority in that war, defeated India in a large tank battle, Battle of Chawinda,. The old man should shut up and fall over already.

blah blah blah. No one won 65. You wanted to recapture kashmir but failed. Just take a look at the map.

Anna is wrong just leave pakistan to its own and cut off all diplomatik trade and other ties from pakistan as was after parliament attack im pretty sure within months we will achive what we were looking for
