TCL initiates construction of it's largest manufacturing base outside China in Tirupati

: Chinese electronics major TCL is undertaking the ground breaking ceremony of its first integrated smart manufacturing industrial park in India at Tirupati on Thursday. This will be TCL's largest manufacturing base outside China and will build localized manufacturing capabilities as part of its longterm strategy in the country as part of 'Make in India'. The industrial park at Tirupati consists of two major manufacturing facilities, including one panel module factory which is the first of its kind production unit outside China. This unit is owned by TCL’s panel subsidiary, Shenzhen China Star Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd

This factory will produce screens for TVs and mobile phones, with a production capacity of eight million 22-inch to 55-inch large-sized TV screens and 30 million 3.5-inch to 8-inch small-sized mobile screens per year. This is scheduled to commence production in February 2020. There will be one smart TV manufacturing facility too in the park which will be owned by the TV arm, TCL Electronics.

This will manufacture six million 32-inch to 65-inch TV sets per year and is expected to commence production in December 2019. "India is a strategic market for TCL and our investment in India is a significant milestone in our globalization plans,” said Tomson Li, chairman and CEO of TCL Corporation.

Vivo invests Rs 4,000 crore for new manufacturing plant in India

Vivo, the innovative global smartphone brand, is excited to announce the initialization of their second manufacturing facility in India. The company has acquired additional 169-acre of land in the Yamuna Expressway region in Uttar Pradesh with an estimated investment of Rs 4,000 crore (not including land cost). Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath welcomed the initiative and congratulated Vivo for the upcoming facility.

The new land has been acquired near the existing 50-acre manufacturing facility and will help expand Vivo’s manufacturing capabilities and support Vivo’s continued growth in India.

All Vivo smartphones sold in the country are manufactured at the Greater Noida facility which is one of Vivo’s four manufacturing facilities globally.

Vivo’s new manufacturing facility will help achieve its vision of providing best-in-class mobile phones with an affordable pricing in addition to the already existing facility at Greater Noida. The existing manufacturing set-up, which saw an investment of Rs 300 crore already functions at a capacity of 2 million units per month with more than 5,000 workforce.

Vivo will also contribute significantly to the socio-economic growth of the manufacturing ecosystem in India by way of creating additional jobs, wage growth and skill development for factory floor workers as it hopes to generate 5000 additional employment in the first phase of expansion. During this phase, Vivo also plans to double the current production capacity to 50 million units per annum.

China's TCL to set up TV manufacturing factory in Tirupati

NEW DELHI: Chinese handset and consumer electronics company TCL Electronics said that it is setting up a new manufacturing facility in Tirupati to make smart TV.

The new facility will generate substantial employment opportunities for the country’s young workforce, and will also fulfil the market demand for smart consumer electronics appliances in India, the company said in a statement.

"The development is in line with TCL’s long-term vision of building localised capabilities in order to better cater to the growing market demand for innovative home entertainment solutions across the country," the company said.

TCL has a physical presence in over 80 countries and caters to more than 160 international markets through its robust channel network and strong industry tie-ups. In H1 2018, TCL Electronics’ global LCD TV sales volume crossed the 10-million mark to reach over 13.17 million sets, growing by 37.2% year-on-year. The company also registered exceptional response in various overseas markets, with its overseas sales volumes increasing by 44.4% year-on-year to more than 8.28 million.


“We have always strived to provide our customers with the ultimate audio-visual entertainment experience through technology in a bid to make their homes smarter and their entertainment experiences richer. Our partnership with the Andhra Pradesh government and the establishment of our Tirupati manufacturing unit would allow us to provide Indian consumers with innovative smart TVs driven by the latest cutting-edge QLED and AI technologies," said Mike Chen, Country Manager – TCL India.

The company is now aiming to launch India’s first Google-certified Android QLED TV on Amazon.
