Tamil Nadu leaders slam SL Navy Chief’s Indian visit

If you want to be hurt you can be hurt, by one party that is irrelevant even in TN politics, let alone national level.

Sri Lankan media is also very good in sensationalizing thing based on a views of a little known political parties as they too are quite obsessed with Tamil Nadu.

Thoppul kodi uravu ellam ethiriku(pakistan) ku vaevu paatha appavae arunthu pochu... no more priority for srilankan tamils, get lost u traitors....

Wait for a few more months and they'll all be in jail. Jayalalitha is gone and Karunanidhi family will be locked in 10 days when the 2G scam verdict is out. The rest of them are immaterial.

You are not getting the point. You are going through the stereotypical assessment of the situation that TN leaders are milking the issue (which they are) but SL guys are 'basically ok'. See it's the second assessment that's problematic. Forget any sri Lankan ever accepting the right wingism that created the conflict, if you think that they would have learnt from 30 years of conflict- that's not exactly true. The general who led the campaign (I think he had some ambitions of becoming president himself) was all out to garrison and isolate the reclaimed tamil areas- essentially kick off another round of conflict for 'rights' in the future. He came into conflict with Mahinda Rajapakse (who had given assurances of normal integration to India and TN leaders) and almost launched a coup. I believe it was RAW that alerted Rajapakse and averted the coup. India's national interest is served only when a long term normal integration of Tamils with SL people happen. Then we avert refugee crisis and conflicts and stuff. If these events are any evidence, we have to make sure that Rajapakse stays the course and does the job.

Excellent post. :toast_sign:

What happened to the Tamils is inhuman by any measure - but how the Tamils reacted to their oppression exceeds disbelief. Child soldiers, suicide squads and inhuman horrors.

Sri Lanka has moved on - Tamils are given equal rights now and theirs lives is way better than what it was under LTTE. If they still have problems, they have to deal with it in a civilized way. Shouldn't we move on too?

We should move on but make sure that there is true integration in there and no garrisoning or isolating (like what the gen wanted). If we don't put pressure there, it'll only come back to haunt us. No matter how much we want to make it a national issue, as if boats with refugees end up on our side, we will have to put it back into TN focus. Right now Rajapakse seems to be taking the right steps but we gotta keep putting pressure so that it vanishes as a threat altogether.

During the final war, SL and indian governments cooperation was at its height...where was TN?

TN is in India. And if India gave cooperation, I can assure you it was after getting consensus with TN leaders. If you think India and TN have different policies- you are silly.

seriously dude what is your point here? It looks like you have made a salad with writing extremely different things. You are not bringing any point. I will break down and answer one by one.
1. SL guys are basically ok! - You are an external party and if you think you have any responsibility to make any SL party 'OK' you are wrong. SLns will continue to have their own opinions.

But last we checked SL gover had conducted elections in North and democracy is returning. When it comes to power devolution SL has done what it has promised.

2. ny sri Lankan ever accepting the right wingism that created the conflict, if you think that they would have learnt from 30 years of conflict- that's not exactly true. - as i said earlier SLn will continue to have any viewpoint. Like any country we have people with extremely different view points. SL govern is not bound to deliver what you think is best for SL but what SL people think is best for SL. That is the main thing external parties should realise. And SL conflict is not a black and white issue and unlike many think equal rights or discrimination was not the real root for SL problem. As our former foreign minister Kadirgamar said world should be looked at as grey not as black and white.

And where did you pick this SF case and RAW and military coup thing? Please access real news sites. How is SF even relate to SL conflict and indo-SL relations?

One doesnt require a session of brain storming to understand Indian central gover and TN policies regarding SL are different, just read some news. Yes TN is in india and indian central gover has certianly MANAGED TN leaders on SL. That is the point and it does not mean TN prepares SL policies with Indian central government on an equal footing.

Lets see what exactly the TN polcies are. TN policies are when it comes to SL is an irritating policy. TN leaders and even some of its fringe polical parties like the one in news wants to bully SL using india. They always create dramas and slightly threaten seperation at the drop of a hat. Now both SL and Indian gover knows what sort of a cry baby TN is and they know exactly how to deal with them. TN needs one thing, that is attention and pampering.

whenever TN screams on something about SL, Indian gover listens to them do some pampering issue a media statement and continue SL-Ind relations as it was intended to be.

Unlike the politicians you have in TN, luckily the leaders in central government are rational and mature.

What naïve nonsense. That's probably you are on a repeated charm offensive on non tamil Indians. Indian establishment always confers with TN leaders and comes to consensus agreements. The rest of it is for show. TN & Indian policies are always aligned and cumulative.

what is to charm on indians? come with a straight argument without passing hints like an old woman who gets offended for every thing.

It is good if TN and Indian govern comes to a consensus agreement regarding SL. That is the meaning of MANAGING TN politicians by GOI. And of course SL certianly knows it and helps GOI. May be the boycott of Jayalalitha of Modi's ceremony was also part of that consensus agreement.

You are like the old aunt who wants to win over her nephews with knick knacks . What do you think - GOI & TNG is run by jokers? GOI and TN leaders, both leading and opposition, get detailed briefings and discussions on every issue. There are certain places where GOI cannot publicly volte face for certain objectives, same with TN. GOI and TN both articulate their views and are in unison- in both screwing and petting operations. Unlike your blanket thinking, there were times when TN guys saved your A$$ and GOI decided to screw you.

Secret coup, if I'm not wrong planned by Gen. Sarath Fonseka himself. It didn't end well for him did it?

First write a sentences properly to convey a meaning. It is troubling to guess what is in your head always.

SF didnt plan any coup, he ran for a presidential election. Get your facts correct.
The arrest was due to different reasons.
SL is not a country that can be taken by coup. SF never had the capability for a coup...

And how was your SF coup even remotely relevant to the discussion on SL - Ind relations.

Tch tch tch. I think it was RAW that sounded out your prez that in case of a 'close result' your guy had decided to raid the cookie jar. Somehow coincidentally those 'different reasons' bore fruit right about election results time didn't it? It could never have been for a coup plan because he had become a folk hero in SL after the war. He did start garrisoning the Tamil areas didn't he? If he had gathered power he would have gone back to the old SL, especially on the Tamil issue and India would have repeated headaches on it again. I think I read somewhere that Manmohan Singh himself made a 'friendly call' to Rajapakse.
