This is the first interview ever made by Indonesian journalist since Taliban takes power in Afghanistan. In general it is about the relationship between Taliban and Indonesian government and people, and also relation between Taliban with other Muslim countries. Other things being discuss is Taliban opinion about Jamaah Islamiyah, Al-Qaeda, and others.

Taliban relation and opinion with China and Russia are also discussed

We also can see that Indonesian journalist has clear English and this is not even a mainstream media who can hire best candidate as their journalist. This is media who is only present in Youtube and the journalist usually talk in Indonesian language as it is their targeted audience. So I dont know why media like Al-Jazeera never use Indonesian journalist as their representative???

Non Indonesian journalist AJ usually like to report any thing bad and some time dont use ethical journalist code to cover both side when the issue is bad

Would be good to see countries like Indonesia, share their experiences with the Afghans, considering how large of a country Indonesia is and how its governed.

What's good if all the smart people are fleeing?

They'll be a wasteland just because of that

People are the greatest resource of any nation

Would be good if you Pakistanis stick to your own problems rather then poking your nose in other's matters. That's what a taliban and Indonesian would have said to you.
You must think how we can increase our influence. Buy their banks, or any institution they privitise. We can have long discussions with China that if they extract any raw material then it must be processed in pakistan.
We must think about road connectivity.
Finally we should talk about a tunnel or an over head bridge connecting pakistan and Tajikistan at the narrowest point.
We should ask them to stop terrorism. We should send buracraits, train their army, run their government for them. And first and foremost find a way to throw 40 million afghans. That would lower the burden. The life of kpk and balochistan and their gdp per capita increase of these 40 to 50 million people leaves.

Actually Jusuf Kalla, Indonesia former Vice President, has good relationship with them. As Indonesian Islamist leader, Yusuf Kalla, also has some kind of spiritual basis to talk about Islam with them beside discussing and giving experience about state building. I believe Yusuf Kalla has a big role to moderate previous Taliban Islamic version as Today we see different Taliban.

It is interesting to see what will happen next in relation with Indonesia, as far as what has been going on, our government has build mosque and hospital there, and also offering scholarship for Afghan to study in Indonesia university. We are also quite active to build peace process there as Taliban spoke person also has admitted.

I would say next new administration will likely our administration have more willingness to help Afghanistan, this is because until 2024 I believe our current government will be focusing more on internal problem, particularly to boost the economy, curb Covid infection, giving more economic assistance to our poor people, and also do many structural reform.

While for the case of our civil society, they will likely come and give help through several Islamic organization. Second biggest Islamic organization in Indonesia, Muhammadiyah, for instant just open a university in Malaysia recently. Malaysia is not a poor nation as we all know. I believe they will likely open a university in Afghanistan as well.

After 2024, I think we will likely to start to look beyond our internal and regional (ASEAN and Asia Pacific) issues. It is because internally, many of our problems like in relation with structural reform and major infrastructure construction will likely been completed in the end of Jokowi term. RCEP deal has also been completed.

IMO Indonesia should be more active in Muslim problem and issues, not just focusing on our internal problem and ASEAN issues. The chance to get President with Islamist point of view or at least close to Islamic sentiment is also quite high in our next Presidential election. This kind of President will likely have more connection with Islamic world compared to nationalist one, despite Jokowi administration is already quite active to broker peace process within Afghan factions.

i'll be cautious around Al-Jazzera. They have ties with CIA. Their founders were ex-BBC staff.

One of the cables. There are several of them.

Engagement with other nations can help train new people to take over where others have left off. Besides, those that left may not have wanted to help, so if their heart isn’t in it, they may not be the resource a nation would want for the long term. I agree, in the short term a brain drain will make running things difficult.
