Taliban 'ready to unleash 3,000 suicide bombers in Pakistan

This is not true. They have been making such claims all along. When the army entered Swat, they said hundreds of suicide bombers were going to attack army convoys. It never happened... there were a few incidents at best. With their back broken in SWA and with the ongoing operations in the rest of FATA, there is no way they have 3,000 suicide bombers. There are probably some sleepers still around, but there are good chances that these will be caught given the arrests that have already taken place.

Whatever is left of these heathen, let them bring it. These ba$tards were not able to break the morale of the people or the armed forces of Pakistan when they were at full strength. Now that they are a wilted, rotted mess they are hardly in a position to make these threats. The only thing in their fate is a long painful, languishing incarceration followed by a death that will take them straight to hell. Therein will they reside and burn for ever. :pakistan:

Have never heard of any of these terrorist "leaders" or their children indulging in suicide bombings. Why do they not want to go to the paradise that they keep promising those poor fools who end up being cannon fodder? It would be a very short campaign then. I wish more people could say "you first" when suicide bombings are being planned.

Why are you guys worrying about this idiotic claim? If they had those kind of numbers, its inconceivable that they wouldn't have done those attacks already. What a perfect round figure to roll off this scumbag's mouth? Why only this number? Maybe that's the highest he can count to ! This is just more bluster with nothing to back it up.

Daily Telegraph is one of the most prestigous newspapers of UK

You could also be right but very unlikely to me

Professional newspapers my arse.

They're all little corporate hubs working to make money and serving their empires.

15% adds, 25% News, 60% propaganda.

Don't take the newspapers as gospel truth.

First of all this is a bull CRAP figure, since it did not exist of this large figure in Palistaine and Iraq. Sucide bombing is a correlation of suni's only, The question becomes how many Suni's want to follow this trail in Pakistan?

to your second statement, i actually though you had some knowledge of what the hell your talkin about but obviously not

the statement after the bold part further elaborates your ignorance regarding muslims

^^ Tamil tigers actually.

Unless you mean in the muslim world, in which case I agree, suicide bombing is typically perpetrated by Sunnis. Haven't heard of a Shia suicide bomber, correct me if I'm wrong.

In the last few weeks the Taliban's overall military commander for Afghanistan, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, who is Mullah Omar's deputy, was captured in a joint intelligence raid in Karachi by Pakistani and American agents.
Several members of the 'Quetta Shura', the movement's ruling council were later captured in the city, while the group's Pakistani leader Hakimullah Mehsud was believed to have been killed in a missile strike by an unmanned Predator drone. Earlier this week, Mullah Omar's son-in-law, a former minister in the last Taliban government was also arrested.

The threat was issued after one of its leaders claimed responsibility for a suicide car bomb which killed 13 people outside an interrogation centre in Lahore where militant suspects are questioned.
Eight officials from the Federal Investigation Agency were those killed when the bomber detonated a Toyota Carolla packed with 1300 pounds of explosives between the office and a local religious school.
It was the third time the centre had been targeted and marked a return to its suicide bombing campaign after a number of serious setbacks for the Taliban leadership.
The bombing in Lahore served notice that the movement retains the ability to strike throughout Pakistan, while Azam Tariq, a spokesman for the Taliban, served notice that it had the capacity to intensify its campaign.
"We have around 3,000 more suicide bombers. We'll target all government places, buildings and offices," he said in a call to a news agency.
More than 3,000 people were killed in terrorist attacks in Pakistan last year as suicide bombers and 'fedayeen' commandos struck in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Peshawar. The figure marked a 48 per cent increase on 2008, reflecting a furious Taliban reaction to Pakistan Army operations against Taliban militants in South Waziristan and Bajaur Agencies.
Analysts believe the success of the army offensive in South Waziristan and their recent successes in arresting senior Taliban and al-Qaeda leaders has damaged the militants' ability to strike as regularly as they did last year.

knock yourself out mate, and look up the word fidaèn and who they were, not the ones saddam had at his disposal way before that..and japs had the whole suicide bombing thing down way before sunnis did

Sunni
The majority of Sunni scholars reject simple suicide,[55] but some top authorities support suicide attacks on perceived enemies of Islam. Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, sometimes called "the world's most quoted independent Islamic jurist",[56] has called martyrdom operations:

The greatest of all sorts of Jihad in the Cause of Allah. A martyr operation is carried out by a person who sacrifices himself, deeming his life less value than striving in the Cause of Allah, in the cause of restoring the land and preserving the dignity.[57]

Other clerics have supported attacks in connection with Palestine. Sunni Iraqi cleric Sheikh Ahmad Al-Qubeisi has proclaimed that "those who commit martyrdom [i.e. suicide] operations who are, by Allah, the greatest martyrs in Islamic history..."[58] Amongst others the Imam of the Grand Mosque in Mecca, Abd Al-Rahman Al-Sudayyis,[59] the former President of Al-Azhar University, Ahmad 'Omar Hashem[60] and Cleric, Sheikh Ibrahim Mudeiris of Gaza[61] have all urged on suicide operations by Muslims. Sayed Mohammed Musawi, head of the World Islamic League in London, condemning the London bombings, but insisted "there should be a clear distinction between the suicide bombing of those who are trying to defend themselves from occupiers, which is something different from those who kill civilians, which is a big crime."[62] There have been conflicting reports about the stand of Sheikh Muhammad Sayyid Tantawy, the top Egyptian cleric of Al Azhar University, and the mufti of Egypt, Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Al Tayyeb. Shortly after 9/11, Sheikh Tantawy issued a statement opposing suicide attacks.[63] Again in mid-2003 he was quoted again as saying "groups which carried out suicide bombings were the enemies of Islam."[64]

According to Charles Kimball, chair of the Department of Religion at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, "There is only one verse in the Qur'an that contains a phrase related to suicide", Verse 4:29 of the Qur'an.[65] It reads O you who believe! Do not consume your wealth in the wrong way-rather through trade mutually agreed to, and do not kill yourselves. Surely God is Merciful toward you. Some commentators believe that the phrase "do not kill yourselves" is better translated "do not kill each other", and some translations (e.g. Shakir) reflect that view.

Mainstream Islamic groups such as the European Council for Fatwa and Research use the Quran'ic verse Al-Anam 6:151 (And take not life, which Allah has made sacred, except by way of justice and law) as further reason to prohibit suicide.[66] In addition, the hadith unambiguously forbid suicide.[67]

A contrary view is presented by Faisal Bodi who has written in The Guardian that "in the Muslim world, then, we celebrate what we call the martyr-bombers. To us they are heroes defending the things we hold sacred. Polls in the Middle East show 75% of people in favour of martyr-bombings."[56] Nevertheless, Islamist militant organisations (including Al-Qaeda, Hamas and Islamic Jihad) continue to argue that suicide operations are justified according to Islamic law, despite Islam's strict prohibition of suicide and murder.[68][69] Irshad Manji, in a conversation with one leader of Islamic Jihad noted their ideology.

"What's the difference between suicide, which the Koran condemns, and martyrdom?" I asked. "Suicide," he replied, "is done out of despair. But remember: most of our martyrs today were very successful in their earthly lives." In short, there was a future to live for--and they detonated it anyway.

Since the four suicide bombings in London, there have been many scholastic refutations of suicide bombings from Sunni Muslims. Ihsanic Intelligence, a London-based Islamic think-tank, published their two-year study into suicide bombings in the name of Islam, titled 'The Hijacked Caravan',[70] which concluded that "The technique of suicide bombing is anathema, antithetical and abhorrent to Sunni Islam. It is considered legally forbidden, constituting a reprehensible innovation in the Islamic tradition, morally an enormity of sin combining suicide and murder and theologically an act which has consequences of eternal damnation."[71] The Oxford-based Malaysian jurist Shaykh Muhammad Afifi al-Akiti issued his landmark fatwa on suicide bombing and targeting innocent civilians, titled 'Defending the Transgressed, by Censuring the Reckless against the Killing of Civilians', where he states suicide bombing in its most widespread form, is forbidden: 'If the attack involves a bomb placed on the body or placed so close to the bomber that when the bomber detonates it the bomber is certain [yaqin] to die, then the More Correct Position according to us is that it does constitute suicide. This is because the bomber, being also the Maqtul [the one killed], is unquestionably the same Qatil [the immediate/active agent that kills] = Qatil Nafsahu [suicide]"[72]

[edit] Shia
In January 2006, one of Shia Islam's highest ranking Marja clerics, Ayatollah al-Udhma Yousof al-Sanei also decreed a fatwa against suicide bombing, declaring it as a "terrorist act".[73]

[edit] Sufi
On March 2, 2010 Pakistani Sunni Sufi scholar Muhammad Tahir ul-Qadri published a 600-page Fatwa Against Terrorism,[74] including suicide bombing in the name of Islam
