By 1945 when Russia declared war on Japan, Japanese navy pretty much all sits at the bottom of the sea.

That's why i said Russia was just an opportunists( or should i say a eise chess player) by declaring war on Japan when they knew the U.S had already certainly defeated/weakened japan to the point of surrender .lol any power back then could have declare war on japan and claim japans loot/bounty/land/colonies like nanchuria/korea/yaiwan etc. RUSSIA PLAYED NO ROLE IN JAPANS DEFEAT AT ALL, FULL STOP. lol

The U.S had already done all the hard work for Russia.

Mike, let's backtrack a bit. Back to the subject matter. Let's focus on what certain policies that the PRC is doing to instigate apprehension and aversion in Taipei. Thanks. I just wanted to ask you to not get too peripheral in discussion with some folks here. You know quite a lot of the regional history, and i really appreciate that. Hope to learn more from you, buddy.

What i admire about you is that you really capture the notion of 'Freedom of Speech' here in this forum. And you don't go into personal attacks , which is even more respectable.

Well i have travelled and lived briefly in quite a number of countries, the more you travel/the more people you meet, the more open/broader your views and you see the world differently than staying in your little country thinking the world revolves around you.lol. Travelling/meeting and interacting with different people all over the world helps you be more rational/pragmagtic and rational in your views. I also studied international relations in uni, so i know quite abit abit geo politics and how the dirty part of the world works/history.lol

I also admire your level headedness and the fact that you are always respectful when addressing others. I cant say the same for many memebers on here unfortunately, bar a few.

World War 2 started at the same time over to all participant. Even tho some may already been engage at war already during or before that time. But if that war does not trigger a worldwide response. Then It is a local and separate war. War can even be fought as a side-campaign for participant if the war objective is not align to the World War.

German fought in Spanish Civil War in 1936, but since that war does not trigger a world wide response unlike WW1 where a civil war become a world event. The war has sat of different category.

Japan also were not a WW2 participant until basically Attack of Pearl Harbor, couple with attack of Western Colony (Malay/Singapore, Hong Kong of Britain, Indo China of France and also Philippine) Before that point, the war in the Pacific are limited on Japan and Republic of China hence, the Pacific war before that point is not a world event.

WW2 officially start with German Invade Poland, when basically all the major player (beside the US) engage in active fighting for either side of the War. German invaded Poland leads to the UK and France declare war on Germany, in turns trigger the British Commonwealth and French Colony in Africa to declare war on Germany which means both country's and their current and former colony would be at war. At that point on, the war become a world event, hence historian agrees the date of invasion of Poland started WW2. Whatever happen before that point is not related.

WW2 started in September 1 1939, but Japan was not a participant until Dec 7 1941

A War started that does not mean the participant have to join altogether at the same time.

Lool The U.S dropped the atomic bombs to force a quick surrender before Russia could invade Japan? where would Russia have started to invade Japan without the U.S? Lol Good luck with that.

Japan had a farrrrrr more powerful navy than Russia by a wide margin. So with what do you think Russia will use to invade mainland Japan? Speed boats? They wouldnt even have come close without a massive powerful U.S navy weakening Japan. Lol Even with all the mighty U.S Naval might , japan inflicted heavy casualties to the U.S, just for the U.S to take few japanese occupied islands in the pacificc and East Asia. So much so that the U.S rightly figured out that if it where to attempt an invasion of Japan mainland , the cost will be catastrophic even for the U.S both in terms of human lufe and equipment. So the U.S decided to dropped the bomb. Russia couldnt even come close to that, it had no navy that could take on IJN and survive.

Your beloved Japanese navy is weak, last time they where tested was during the world war. Japanese mighty navy wasn't even able to prevent atomic bombs falling in Japan.

Huh.....what are you even talking about my chinese filipino friend? Everybody here knows fully well that the IJN during WWII was the most powerful navy in the world(along with U.S.navy, german navy, and british navy) . The IJN fought bravely and is the only country in history(apart from britain obviously) to have attacked the U.S mainland itself. Even today China doesnt has the capabilities to launch an attack/air raid on U.S soil. In fact, if i want to be honest, i will say only the U.S navy had the capabilities to invade and defeat Japan on its mainland. Give credit when due, just because you hate and despise japan doesnt means you should say irrational things/be bitter which is obvious. You can be rivals, and yet still recognize/respect the other's achievements, shows maturity.

Pearl harbor was launched without warning, no declaration of war and when US was neutral to Japan. PRC directly attacked US forces in expeditionary warfare, after warning.
