T-129 - Pakistan signs biggest ever defence exports deal of Turkish history

.
There was also the Rooivalk Mk2 option. Denel said it was writing down the Rooivalk's prior development costs (i.e. eating them, not adding them to the procurement cost) while also re-using the same airframe, engine and dynamic parts. The only changes were in the electronics and munitions. Each of the critical parts would have to come from Safran Group and Airbus Helicopters, both of whom were willing to back it (and the Army is familiar with them via the Fennec and Puma programs).

Yes, it would have been riskier than other options, but Denel said for an order of 45 helicopters it would basically shift the manufacturing and support base to the buyer. Once the design is in place one can continue developing it for alternative (i.e. Russian or Chinese) engines and dynamic parts down the line.
amen..... exactly to the point. Like i said you already have experience with Puma. You can put down two lines which includes Oryx medium lift helo. If that does not give you a huge boost in terms of manufacturing but also export line.

Just like the short sightedness in terms not going to Armscor for mineproof vehicles; this is a huge opportunity that has been lost; this would automatically have lead to other in tow expertise.

Why would they go crawling back???????

Buyers regularly go back and forth assessing different options before a confirmed purchase

T129 were not supposed to reach Pakistan tommorow but 5 years down the line, plenty of time for both Turkey to resolve issues and China to deliver a better product

Your strange whining aside everything is still to play for
Have some faith on the Turkish folks!!!! They've been in this game for the last 2K years!!!! By the by, the whole deal is in fact Turkey's problem for they are the supplier!!!! Engine is also primarily a problem for them too!!! Hence, plan B to produce local engines is progressing at an exponential speed!!! Best thing about the market economy is that money indeed speaks...

I think instead of using US sanctioned engines, If Turks can develop local engine in short time than its better for all of us to use them.

Turkey already developing its own 1400hp turboshaft engine TS-1400. It will be ready in five years maybe sooner if an emergency appear

Sorry what? Russia just gave you Mi-35s and China CATIC WZ10 Attack Helicopter was rejected by the Army because it’s engine could not perform in hot and high weather. I asked the Chinese CATIC President on why could not they offer a better engine? He responded that the helicopters given for trials to PA were meant for operating in Taiwanese battlefields hence the engine was accordingly for that environment. China did offer PA to re send the Helios back with upgraded engines, but Army said no thanks. Seems like PAKISTAN Army will have to eat it’s words now and go crawling back to China very soon
@PAR 5
Maybe, the "Helios with upgraded engines" are Z-10ME:
