T-129 Atak & Turkish Attack Helicopter Programs

. .
The only problem I have with the T-129 is the TR camo... this wide" greenish and yelowish pattern is limit ugly...
But The mat Black camo shown in Paris show was...beautiful.

that's beauty...

Yeah, I'm sure it's a beauty to all heat seeking missiles too..

Lol... Well then All those 2100+ Apaches... are quite impotent in the battlefield... and all those Black Hawk too... not even gonna talk about all the US bombers, whatever the stealh one or not
Today the camo has no "incident" on those seeking missile... it's just meant for "our" human eyes... like the BLue belly camo that you find on the RU aircrafts... that way it will be difficult to get spotted by anti-air abttery AIMED by the Human eyes, like in afghanistan or syria...
As for the greenish and yelowis camo of TR, it will be usefull when the heli has landed on enemy or conflicted territory... that way it's not easily spotted by watchers ( by human eyes )

ps: heat seekers goes with the heat from the turbine/motor... not the heat from the "sun" on the black camo...

.
and flying objects actually cool down pretty quick by the air and also the under the propellers so it does not matter black or not. but its a beauty we can all agree

Why would the Americans spend time to repaint their fleet for campaigns where MANPADs are non-existent. How about we look at a country where sun is prevalent all year round, Israel.

Heat seekers are developed to home in on thermal signature. The sun heating up black coating of paint does no favours for the helicopters thermal signature.

it wont heat up that much when it flies(the coating will cooldown) but even if it was white the helicopter has always a heatsource

Look we know both of us that the color ( and in this case Black Grey) has no incidence on Heat seeking abilities... ( But I could agree that the heat from the sun when it's in black, could be hotter for the pilots inside)

And My main point was the TR greenish/yelowish camo was not "beautiful" enough, it was just My Point of View and that the Black camo could have been used instead like the Apache/BH ones.

ANd Turkey is not a steady Hot country like the others in the region. therefore the B camo could have been used and could have been "nicer".

nothing more, nothing else

ps: Apache outside of Israel are "almost" all Black/grey. Look at the egyptian/KSa/UAe etc... ones

Of course paint color has effect on thermal signature, I posted an image on how it does. We both know surface temperature of a platform is very important. Black, would be cool if it was mainly operating at night - otherwise it has many disadvantages - thermal signature being one.

.
I suppose this kind of color

would has better thermal signature and better color camuflage at sky.

Land Forces puts that weird camo on T-129 just because they are being used by Land Forces. Not because it's dark colors do reflect sun-light to reduce thermal signature better (they don't), or they park T-129s on open field (they don't)

your image proves nothing
that is only when object is static on the ground like a car. while the surface of a helicopter after take off cools down when flying.
but there is still always a heatsource because of engine and exhaust mainly. not because color.

Don't know if it's lighting or not but Atak #23 seems to not be as brightly coloured as the other ones. Imo current colour scheme is good but it should look old/vintage, similar to this colour scheme.

Antiair IR seekers are diffirent than surface IR seekers.

Surface targets has lower temperatures. Both surface and engine heat sources. So; IR has higher wavelenght and IR seekers are modified for that bandwith.

Air targets has lowerbody temperature at low speeds(helicopters and slow moving planes) and higher body tempreatures at high speed(planes). This changes too much and is not usable. But exhaust gases has very high temperatures if we compare with land vehicles. So, IR seekers for air targets has smaller wavelenght(high energy) targeting for engine and exhaust. At this bandwith missiles DO NOT SEE the body. They see engine and exhaust gases and targets them.

If your camo makes body to change 300 degrees celcius then it matters. Or they do not! (Answer: They do not matter)
