Gulf seeks to "bleed" Iran is the only true article here. Saudi actually wanted to start another Persian Gulf war when Assad falls because Iran will be isolated. The Middle East is already tired of Iran.
Persian Gulf countries are not capable of "bleeding Iran", if you pay close attention, we are the ones who are bleeding them to death We are not the ones who are spending billions of dollars to buy American weapons (we don't need to) instead of strengthening our economy. Iran economy is diversifying all thanks to Western sanctions and their insignificant allies in the Persian gulf. Iran's non-oil exports have increased dramatically since the Western sanctions were imposed.
Saudi Arabia and rest of the Persian Gulf countries are too dependant on their oil revenues for their survival, since Arab Spring, these countries in the Persian Gulf are spending like crazies to keep the unhappy population at bay, "generous subsidies" that encourage overconsumption and idiotic spending on weapons will be the end of dictator regimes of Persian Gulf .
Saudi Arabia is not a country ruled by a monarch, there is Mecca and Madina so do you actually think it will be only Saudi fighting Iran? No, of course. Egypt, Turkey, Oman, Yemen, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait and Jordan will be part of this and the Islamic countries will be involved in this situation. Iran can keep dreaming about their Persian Empire revival, even nukes doesn't help at all. Go ahead and commit suicide.
That is the most ridiculous assessment I read this week. Pan-Arabs are paranoid about he whole "Persian Empire" conspiracy theory. If leaders of Iran intended revival of Persian Empire, we would continue to be allies with U.S. and Israel and enemies in the region wouldn't dare to breath, just like the old times, when Shah ruled Iran. We have sacrificed so much for the Palestinians and Arabs, despite having no interest in it, so it really saddens me to see these kinds of misunderstanding on Arabs part.
However, I must say this, despite having modern arsenal, Persian Gulf countries are not in any position to invade Iran, among the reasons: incompetency, lack of actual military experience, etc...
Hell, Saudis couldn't even fight Houthis without losing a fighter or three!
And getting bunch of their soldiers killed!
Don't forget how Kuwait fell in 8 hours, and parts of Saudi were occupied within days of Iraqi invasion, same Army supplied by Arabs and the West to kill Iranians and occupy Iran but failed to do so, instead it turned on them! And resulted in many wet pants!
In meanwhile, we housed Kuwaitis (former allies of our enemies) in our country, when Saddam occupied their country.
Also, remember Assad is long gone now, Iraqi Shia military and Hezbollah is gone when the rebels succeed taking over Syria and those 3 nations Iraq, Lebanon and Syria will all be dominated by Suuni governments. Where will Iran's backup be? GONE! bad luck.
