You need foreign media and sponsored NGO's to sniff out such individual crimes. Whereas our media is paid by the elite Congress persons who usually own these media houses to highlight these crimes to shame BJP and Modi. These sort of crimes happen everyehere. Most of the Indian tourists have been robbed while in Europe and it never gets highlighted. New York number of crimes against women are far worse than Delhi but nobody cares to call New York a rape city.

Foreign media knows these facts and also knows that some individual crimes like murder and rape which are prevelent in many societies need not be unduly highlighted. Once their media starts highlighting the crimes in India then these fellows have to daily report the similar crimes happening in their societies.

India in the 1980s was an extremely conservative country where crime was at its all time low and the violence was often communal in nature. So says my dad. Makes me wonder what happened in the past 30 years to transform the country into a land of goons and thugs who rape and plunder in broad daylight and who show little if no regard to respect for women. I have traveled through India on 3 occasions but am extremely doubtful that I would do so again due to the negative media reports about crimes against women. I must ask Indian members, is it really as bad as the media makes it seem or is it over publicized ?

It's time you updated your information. It's time you told your readers the truth: that there was a wave of takeovers funded by right-wing politicians and their businessmen followers immediately after the BJP/NDA victory.

Encounters are not an answer. They are a horrible breach of the rule of law. Soon we will have criminals in uniform hunting down and killing the ones not in uniform.

No, it isn't, but it's worsening daily. I've seen it worsen through the years, and it is quite grim in the UP and in Bihar, in what has been called the moronic heartland. Things are still somewhat under control in the south and in the east, but I am sad to see the anti-women counter-current in Bengal under Mamata.
