however, these days we have various definitions of facts. i thought why not use mine.

The drop in federal spending is because larger budget % is allocated to states now. If both combined the total % as GDP spending wise is largely the same as before (maybe bit more or less). This is just public spending side too. Private spending is increasing by huge amounts still....so I would say total (public + private) is only increasing as % of GDP and in absolute/relative per capita terms too.

This govt (if you dig past the media coverage/non-coverage) actually looking into seriously tackling the problem of standards regarding teacher training and ways to legislate/monitor/enforce on it. Very very overdue. It is just a start.

Just like malnutrition in India is no longer an issue of calorie supply per capita (but rather more non-obvious things like sanitation), the education budget/spending is no longer really the issue, rather we have to address the not so apparent systematic, persistent short comings on clear surveying and results based approach. No point dumping more fuel into car with leaky fuel tank with crappy engine.

btw, how was diwali in canada ? diwali in ncr was so different without the crackers. i missed those good old days when gurgaon ppl started to burst crackers at least a week earlier than chhoti diwali. belated wishes to you n ur family.

Thanks mate! It was good here, it was celebrated with good fanfare (fireworks rather than crackers) with some good festivities in cultural centers/temples/get-togethers, more Canadians know of Diwali each year too.
