the only thing more appalling and ghastly than Ikea furniture is Pakistanis when they have to lick their own spit due to sadiq and ameen.

Pakistanis are still stuck with imperialistic "Victorian" style furniture which is just outdated and stupid. Also the paint and top coat they use are substandard quality which degrades the quality of the wood work.
What Pakistan needs is modern sleek designed furniture and not 200 year old design furniture which has been pandofied over the years by patwari "estyle".

why are you imposing something only found in Punjab on the rest of the country?

Mere bahi they will be paying Tax... and Pakistan or Private sector can talk them into manufacturing in Pakistan.

Bahi IKEA is reliable and light furniture which can be self assembled... but they will have to launch heavy stuff in Pakistan as Beds in Pakistan are well big and proper heavy..

Sorry but most of Pakistani wood working styles are outdated 200 year old design and method and their furniture industry needs a drastic makeover.

WHat makes you think rest of the country pando furniture is any better then Punjabi? majority 99% of Pakistani furniture designs evolve from British empire specially Victorian era design. They are stuck with Victorian style furniture because nothing else is being introduced. Most buyers just purchase whats in the market and furniture makers are mostly pando people who are just using 200 year old designs.
What Pakistan needs is something like RH modern theme furniture which does require some wood working skills and some new sleek concept designs. Where as Ikea furniture are harder to replicate since they use some composite materials which Pakistani furniture industry is not equipped with.

It's like McDonald's or KFC opening up chains in Pakistan.

As far as I can tell they're going to open up retail outlets, they'll earn revenues from within the country while Pakistan loses valuable foreign exchange and local manufacturers lose market share.

Are they going to manufacture in Pakistan for export? No, not as far as I can tell.

Where is the furniture manufactured? China, Vietnam, etc...

If they get good response then they surely will if the infrastructure is good.

All these brand coming to the country are nothing but leeches. They suck up money from local markets and take it abroad while also reducing market share for local businesses. Pakistan should hve strict rules and regulations for such brands, they offer no benefits.

I agree. These companies don't add value, ford, GM etc. make sense. But it's a package deal I guess.

I guess u have no idea about Pakistan furniture. I have been associated with furniture business as a side business. I can tell u that Pakistan produces one of the best furniture in the world. We exported furniture to italy, ireland and otjer European countries. The italians imported from Pakistan and then gave it their own name as italian furniture. Due to stupid corrupt govts, this industry is destroyed and we no longer export any furniture. In tehkal Peshawar, the hand work and other work are one of the best in the world and also cheaper.
