Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav’s wife had a suspicious metallic object installed in it forcing the foreign office’s security staff to give her a different pair of shoes for the Monday meeting with her husband in Islamabad, ARY News reported on Tuesday.

According to ARY News correspondent, Foreign Office spokesman clarified that the Jadhav’s wife Chetankul Jadhav was only asked to change her shoes as a metallic object was found inside her shoe sole and the metal detector was buzzing each time she moved out of it.

Sources say security staff could not remove the metallic object in half an hour, the lady was provided with another pair of shoes to meet her husband who is under arrest in Pakistan.

The wife and the mother of alleged Indian spy Kulbushan Jadhav met him for 40 minutes at the Foreign Office in Islamabad on Monday, for 40 minutes while Deputy Indian High Commissioner and Pakistani officials listened in on the conversation outside.

Mr. Jadhav and the family members spoke in a highly secured room, from either side of a glass partition.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs Tuesday issued a statement expressing regret over the way Pakistani side “conducted the meeting” and raised objection over why Chetankul Jadhav’s shoes were not returned.

“For some inexplicable reason, despite her repeated requests, the shoes of the wife of Shri Jadhav were not returned to her after the meeting. We would caution against any mischievous intent in this regard.,” read a Indian MEA press statement.

The FO spokesman maintained that if the Indian concerns were serious, the guests or the Indian deputy high commissioner should have raised them with the media “which was readily available, but at a safe distance, as requested by India”.

He added that Pakistan does not wish to indulge in a “meaningless battle of words” as it is a fact that Jadhav’s mother “publicly thanked Pakistan for the humanitarian gesture”.

Sources say security experts are testing the shoe to determine if the metallic object was some chip, recorder or some other object.

it is unfortunate that it came to a situation where shoes had to be changed.
it is pointless to argue whether or not any suspicious object was installed in the shoes or if it was a false alarm because there is no much information out and whatever information will come out will depend on who you ask

Pakistan now sends shoes of Kulbhushan Jadhav's wife for forensic examination

In a latest, the Pakistan authorities have sent the shoes worn by Kulbhushan Jadhav's wife, Chetankul Jadhav for forensic examination to determine the nature of the suspected presence of a foreign object.

This comes a day after India reacted strongly to the way Pakistan government conducted the Kulbhushan Jadhav-family meet , including asking Avanti (mother) and Chetankul Jadhav (wife) to remove their "mangalsutra, bangles and bindi "

A furore soon ensued after it surfaced that Chetankul's shoes were not returned to her after the meet and now this step by the Pakistan authorities has only worsened the discourse over Islamabad's undiplomatic conduct.

The authorities were ascertaining whether the "metallic object" in the shoes was a camera or a recording chip, Pakistan Today quoted Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson Mohammad Faisal as saying. A separate report in Dawn reported that the FO confirmed a "metallic substance" had been detected in Jadhav's wife's shoes that were confiscated by security officials prior to the meeting with the Indian death row prisoner at the Foreign Office in Islamabad.

Jadhav's wife's shoes were kept for inspection, while all other belongings, including jewellery, were returned, Faisal said, adding that she was given an alternative pair of shoes to wear after her shoes were removed.

'SOMETHING IN SHOES'

In a statement issued last night, the FO made no mention of the "metallic substance" and had said that there was "something" in the shoes. In the statement, Pakistan rejected as "baseless" India's contentions that Jadhav's wife and mother were harassed and claimed that his wife's shoes were confiscated on security grounds as there was "something" in it. "There was something in the shoe. It is being investigated. We gave her a pair of replacement shoes.

All her jewellery etc were returned after the meeting," Faisal said. The external affairs ministry said in a statement yesterday that Pakistan went so far as to have the mangalsutra, bangles and bindi of Jadhav's mother and wife removed before they could meet him. India also accused Pakistan of disregarding cultural and religious sensibilities of family members under the pretext of security.

"This included removal of mangalsutra, bangles and bindi, as well as a change in attire that was not warranted by security," it said. The FO said that Pakistan does not wish to indulge in a "meaningless battle of words" and categorically rejects India's baseless "allegations and twists" about attitude of authorities during Jadhav's meeting with his wife and mother.

"The Indian baseless allegations and twists, that come 24 hours later, about the visit of the wife and mother of Commander Jadhav, a convicted terrorist and spy, who has confessed to his crimes, are categorically rejected," the statement said.

If Indian concerns were serious, the guests or the Indian DHC (Deputy High Commissioner) should have raised them during the visit with the media which was readily available, but at a safe distance as requested by India, it added.

"We do not wish to indulge in a meaningless battle of words. Our openness and transparency belie these allegations," it said. During the December 25 meeting, whose pictures were released by Pakistan, Jadhav was seen sitting behind a glass screen while his mother and wife sat on the other side. They spoke through an intercom and the entire 40-minute proceedings appeared to have been recorded on video.

Jadhav, who was captured in March last year, was sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court for alleged spying, an accusation that India has dismissed as concocted. New Delhi says Jadhav was kidnapped in Iran where he had legitimate business interests, and brought to Pakistan. To save Jadhav, India moved the International Court of Justice, which ordered Pakistan in May to stay his execution.

Do we know what exactly that metal object was ?
If you read the news, for that very reason it has been sent to the lab for a forensic analysis.

Oh how shweeeet...all our humanity is pouring out for a terrorist mastermind who is responsible for killing thousands of people in addition to sabotaging projects of strategic importance with an ultimate goal of disintegrating Pakistan once again and separating Baluchistan. But we don't get tired calling the teen-age suicide bombers who kill far less (max in dozens). Do you extend such human gestures to them also? or the old practice is really, if you kill a upto ten people, we will punish you to the max but if you kill a 100's of 1000's then we will have negotiations with you.
