Why was there a presidential announcement for release of (let's say) Surjeet Singh, when there was no mercy petition with the President...

Was there a mercy petition on the name of Surjeet Singh?

Why was Surjeet Singh who had completed his term of sentencing back in 2007 still languishing in the Pak jail? Is that not a violation of the court orders?

Sarabjeet's lawyer (a Pakistani national) who had petitioned for his mercy petition still believes that the release order was for his client and not anyone else.

Questions will remain unanswered till there is a clarification from the President... or not.

Sir he was given death sentence in 1985 but in 1989 it was changed to life imprisonment Sir and that was completed in 2004 but he was still in Pakistani Jail but Sarbajeet Singh is still facing death sentence that is why he had to file mercy petition
