Gen Bajwa was given an extension in the light of the ongoing tensions with India. A change in command creates a vacuum for at least 6 months. Because we don't have a Vice Chief of Army Staff position so far, the new Commander must come from either one of the Corps or from one of the bureaucratic Arms of the Army.

I know some folks, mostly poorly informed about the situation are all ganged up here. They must keep the current situation at the border in mind.

Most importantly here most of us thinks now our boarder at peace but on ground day by day smoke getting thicker and thicker.

In this kind of situation change of command is just like go in war without Arms.

Army chief Bipin Rawat is getting extension to head the newly created position of Chief of Defence Staff and not COAS. Next COAS will be selected at the end of year.

i think it is much better for military and nation if this extension is cancelled

So kiyanis extension was Halal and this one is Haram there is nothing gonna comeout of it will be thrown out today. It's PM choice what he wants courts have nothing to do with it

Extension should not been given to any one and keep military people out of civilian institutions and stop govt jobs to army personals after retirement

result of kyani extension was not good and his respect was also declined in army and army has become much weaker in his tenure so it is better trend of extension is ended in army,do you want ik to follow zardari steps but for that he should stop using fake slogan of change as ik used to oppose extension of coas when he was in opposition so better he stand on his own principles

U can say what ever U like good or bad it's PM choice courts can't do anything about It. NS offered extension to Kaker but he refused nothing new here

It has nothing to do with change its a political decision by a political Govt and its good wise decision.

the problem is that ik used to criticize such decision in past so even it is political decision govt has lost moral grounds to defend it and I think after precedence set by gen Raheel Sharif to not take extension gen bajwa will face more resistance from within army which will lead to weakening of army and will damage national security

Oh Bahi army has discipline what resistance he will get? stop being childish. IK did a political decision and he made a right decision what Morality u talking about??? It's a weak coalition Govt what U except from it??

Yes, bajwa must go. or else it would just seem that he failed to create/train leaders among his subordinates, only followers. if he has any dignity, he will step down.

Few words on leaders and followers:

A candidate makes into PMA as a cadet based on potential for being a future leader. The leadership instinct inculcated in PMA when a cadet is 18,19 years old is carried on for lifetime.All Military officers are envisioned as leaders. Thats what PMA Kakul is for - it transforms an ordinary young man into a leader - able to lead troops into combat. Those who show an all round capability in various other roles also, are promoted to Brigadier and rise into ranks of General staff. There are no followers in Military. However, all leaders are also expected to follow orders from their senior ranks. No two commanding officers lead the same unit in similar fashion. A 2IC may learn the trends and customs of unit command from the CO, but he will command the unit in his own manner and ways when he is promoted to CO.

I think Bajwa has much more than dignity - so he has been asked to stay and serve further.

nice but they would not be able to even shake things cuz its premitted by constitution. i was not happy any kind of extension for anyone we have 20 caror people for God sake, we can find not only equally qualified but better replacement, the only question is who wants to work? simple answer is no one in Pakistan.

CJP suspends Bajwa's extension notification, issues notice to all parties

Chief Justice of Pakistan Asif Saeed Khosa on Tuesday suspended the notification of Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa's tenure extension.

The court issued notices to all parties, including Gen Bajwa.

"Only the president of Pakistan can extend the tenure of the army chief," Justice Khosa had said during the hearing of a petition challenging the extension in Gen Bajwa's tenure.

"Army chief's tenure was extended after the president's approval," the attorney general (AG) told the court. "The summary had been approved by the cabinet."

"A similar petition was filed in the Peshawar High Court but was withdrawn later," the AG added.

i think someone in establishment is not happy with this decision of extension,it is better ik appoints new coas now to avoid further uncertainty among armed forces
