Suicide Bombing In Peshawar Kills Senior Minister Bashir Ahmed Bilour & Oth

. .
This man was a much better politician than his accomplices, and well educated too.
Its sad and suspicious that a man of his status under these circumstances, wasnt in a bomb proof car.

as u said he was a good politician than rest soo i suppose good politicians dont have enough money i.e oopar ki kamai to buy a bullet proof car and they care for public more so they dont have time to fortify them...

Being a journalist I have reports that severely contradict your statements. I believe you might be associated with the army which I have very regularly defended but my job is to look at things critically. Though initially only writing about national interest i now point out issues which the army and government can and should correct.

My purpose is not to be a jerk.

First of all, your book needs some rectification. Ladha is in control of the army. And the operation in SW did not see 2 miion refugees, rather it was the operation in Swat which resulted in 2M IDPs. SW agency resulted in something close to or less then 0.500M IDPs.

First things first. No. Ladha is firmly held by Hakimullah Mahsud the leader of the TTP. The army is constricted to roads, check-posts and forts. Ladha fort has been converted into a Tehsil building now. You can confirm this from the office. I could alos bring in a Maseed to confirm this, wror but I doubt there is one on this site.

Nonetheless nothing works better than a source. Dawn News, long after Rah e Nijat was officially over:
South Waziristan operation: Only Sararogha cleared in three years

PESHAWAR, Aug 5: Three years after launching Rah-i-Nijat military operation in Mehsud area of South Waziristan Agency, the government has de-notified only one out of six subdivisions as conflict zone in the volatile region since October 2009.

“Only Sararogha subdivision has been declared as ‘cleared’ and the internally displaced persons from the area are allowed to go back to their homes,” said an official.

He said that the remaining five tehsils including Shawal, Sarwakai, Tairza, Makeen and Laddha had not been cleared so far.

“Return programme of IDPs to other areas would be started as and when the military gives green signal in this regard,” he said.

The army had launched operation Rah-i-Nijat (path of salvation) in 2009 to destroy strongholds of banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in Mehsud area and re-establish government’s writ there.

The return process of IDPs to Sararogha is underway with a slow pace as over 8,000 families have returned to their homes during the last one and half year, while 40,000 registered Mehsud families are waiting with host families in Tank and Dera Ismail Khan districts for their turn.

Fata Disaster Management Authority (FDMA) after getting clearance from security forces has to de-notify an area as conflict zone. Of seven tribal agencies in Fata, Bajaur and Mohmand have been completely de-notified as conflict zones. The return process of IDPs to their homes in those two tribal agencies had been accomplished.

Officials said that FDMA had recently de-notified 44 villages in central subdivision of Kurram Agency while Masozai area had not been cleared. The upper and lower subdivisions of Kurram have already been cleared.

Situation in Orakzai Agency is sketchy and security forces have restored government’s writ only in lower subdivision while situation in remaining two sub-divisions (upper and central) is very volatile. Militants still have hold over a large area of the agency, according to sources.

Bara tehsil in Khyber Agency was notified as conflict zone in 2009 and government writ has not been restored there since then.

Sources said that security forces had fully secured lines of communication and dismantled TTP’s infrastructure in the Mehsud territory, but militants still had presence and carried out attacks there.

One division of army has been deployed in the area. Frontier Works Organisation, a subsidiary of the army, has started work on development projects and constructed several roads. The area has no school, health clinic and other basic facilities.

“Army has control over the main roads and strategic hilltops while TTP’s supporters have safe havens in the valleys. They (militants) are using hit and run tactics and targeting security forces with improvised explosive devices,” said a resident of Laddha subdivision.

He said that before launching operation Rah-i-Nijat in October 2009, political administration and military commanders had made commitments with the elders of Mehsud tribe that dislocated population would be brought back to their homes within two months.

The tribesman said that Taliban were still present in Laddha, Makeen, Kanigoram, Karama and other areas.

“In fact local people have no faith in the administration that is why most of the IDPs are reluctant to go back to their homes,” he said, adding that many of those families shifted to Tank and Dera Ismail Khan because of fear and uncertainty.

As far as your second statement is concerned I must apologize. From South Waziristan there were 400,000 displaced. I qouted the figures for all of FATA. There were 2-3 million in total from FATA, many who have moved back and this data can be confirmed by UNHCR. Very sorry.

Also do note that I cannot include only the narrative of the army in my book Badal... which believes somehow everything was a success. These attacks you talk of shouldn't even be occurring. I of course cover the armies sacrifices but I take into account views of local people many whom I have interviewed. Some have been very critical, trust me.

All the major villages working under TTP in SW are under army control, but attacks do happen once a month or so mostly due to militants coming from NWA side or from the forests in which they are hiding.

Numwerry... above ^^^^ This has been refuted. I would suggest we clear the rural areas of South Waziristan first before banging the drums for an operation in North Waziristan. Attacks have taken place in tehsils like Tiarza and Sarwakai as well which have no border with North Waziristan. Only black magic could bring the attackers there. :) They have to move in a vehicle for at least 3 hours to get out of there to north waziristan and more if roads are blocked or in winter. No one manages to capture them as they escape I suppose.

Time to accept we failed in Waziristan, by purpose or without.

As for Bilour sb, he would take the least of security with him, it was his personal decision. Mostly he used his own 2-3 personal body guards, and once a while police escort. He wasn't afraid.

I know about Bilour sahab and the escort that follows him... but with attacks on Sherpao more than once, Amir Muqam how many times? Hoti too... wonder why they failed to protect him? How did the attacker come there? How did he know Bilour was coming out right then. Did he have informers on the inside? BTW, convenient how Ghulam Ahmed Bilour the guy Taliban had taken off their hitlist for threatening to kill the maker of innocence of muslims wasn't attacked.

Claiming he had no escort I feel is a way of shifting blame. Attacks in a lot of cities are stopped before they can occur. Why is this not happening in Peshawar?

And tracing such guys is not an easy task, suicide bomber has gone to hell, he was the only lead which may lead to the culprits, even if suicide bomber is caught, they can hardly help as they themselves don't know who is handling them as these suicide bombers come from NWA and handed over to other local people.

NW is figuring a lot in conversations. A friend from Kalaya claims fighting ongoing even in Orakzai... how many fronts we plan to open when we can't close the ones we already have opened. Not a single taliban commander arrested. Only person we got was Muslim Khan an ex-spokesman for TTP.

And as for Karachi police claims, i highly doubt those claims with respect to polio attacks culprits, but that is another discussion.

Proof here, then, Taimi:
KARACHI: At least 80 suspected people have been arrested following the yesterday’s killing of four anti-polio drive workers in Karachi; a case has been registered overnight against killing of a woman, SAMAA reported Wednesday.

Police found out during investigations that a single group is involved in the assassinations. Beginning the search for the culprits, over 60 suspected were taken into custody during raids in different areas. Raids were also conducted in Orangi Town and 25 people were arrested.

Meantime, a case regarding one killing has been lodged in Quaidabad Police Station.

Earlier yesterday, two women—Madiha and Fahmida, were gunned while they were busy immunizing children against the crippling polio disease in Landhi’s Gulshan-e-Buner, according to SP Malir Dr. Najeeb.

Also, another anti-polio worker Nasim Akhtar was shot to death at nearly the same time in Orangi-11.5 and her co-worker Asrar was critically injured.

Baldia Town also witnessed the same incident where anti-polio campaign worker Kaneez lost her life. The terrorists fled the scenes posing several question over the performance of police.

Earlier on December 17, the saboteurs killed World Health Organization’s worker supervisor Umar Farooq in Gadap.

Consequently, the government announced to call off the anti-polio drive in Karachi and Peshawar. –SAMAA

I think its time to look the fact in the eye that both the army and police in Pakhtunkhwa have been highly incompetent. Luffy made the claim they were complicit... now he is thanking posts opposing this line of thought.

Peshawar police is the police which 4 days ago killed 4 when got under attack on a check post....

Peshawar police is the police which saved Peshawar airport and next day killed the remaining culprits.... (Compare it with GHQ, Mehran and Kamra)

And if you knew anything about Bashir balour he never used huge security and was on almost every scene of terrorism to support the morale of public and SF.

I suggest you read my post in reply to Taimi. It has some answers. The only thing the police did well in the Peshawar attack case was cordon off the area otherwise those militants would have slipped off to Jamrud faster than you or me can imagine and from there back to Afghanistan and their masters. But if they didn't do that they would be worse than the Somalian or Congo police.

BTW Advertisement is not allowed and no one is interested in Badal..... Try Amazon, Ebay or olx....

Congratulations on becoming an admin. Now you have the right to boss everyone else.

Webmaster has given me permission to promote my book through my contribution, my siggy and also has given me a sticky thread of my own. It is an honor for PDF and the site will be named in the book.

I get depressed sometimes.

Its about the police force not the ANP or MQM. We guys seriously need some depoliticization here?

But i now know about Palay khan ;)

We Pashtuns didn't just fight all the time though. We also have Rehman Baba, Pir Roshan and Khushal Khan Khattak. Our legends include the tales of sherbano and Yousaf Khan.

Either way, this isn't about Pashtuns. Its an attack on Pakistan. Down with the Taliban.

And these ehsan ullah ehsan kind of spokesman speak through satellite phones which i believe we can't trace, but US can and still they don't target them. Question is who gets them these phones, who pays the bill & why US can't track & target them.

According to some pakistani journos whom i know from another forum, this guy usually talks to press with ordinary mobile phones,And sometimes gives live press conference..This pic was taken 3-4 months back when he was holding such a press meeting.

Yes in Peshawar, Talibans contact journalists by mobile phones.

.
Have you ever been to Peshawar??

He might be scum but we should respect their sacrifice in WOT..... ANP is the party with most causalities ..... ANP at least have balls to speak against TTP unlike many others who stay political because they pee in their pants when talk about TTP.... Yes i am talking about PTI and PMLN

Yes it is the same ANP that supports and is propping up the thugs like Asif Ali Zardari. One Anti-Pakistan group supporting other thieves and robbers of Pakistan. BTW, it is the same ANP that is spawned by the lowlife Bacha Khan who opposed the creation of Pakistan. This is the same ANP that still talks about Pukhtounistan. I hate the TTP but I have no love for Anti-Pakistan ANP either.

The only reason these TTP and ANP are at each others throats is because of Turf Battle.

Wake up and smell the Coffee.

I love my Pushtoon brothers who are Pakistani Patriots. Most Pushtoons are Pakistani Patriots in my books and these are the guys who are my brothers.

Speaking to my friend who is from Hazara is happy that ANP personal's get targeted but we also agreed that it is dangerous for the province, as this can start bloodshed, violence & heavy terrorism by ANP, just like the way MQM is doing in Karachi.
We know ANP is anti Pakistani party & they are till date trying to separate the province & join with Afghanistan. There is no difference between ANP & MQM both parties are the same traitors & filled with terrorists. So it is good that these good for nothing bastards are dying but at the same time it is very dangerous for the province.

I don’t want to talk more as this will start a new topic about Afghanis who are in Pakistan & are hurting Pakistan daily.

The deceased Bashir Bilour was younger brother of Railway killer Ghulam Ahmed Bilour.

Yup the railway killer, you got that right.

Dushman maray Tay khusian naa kariye
Sajna v tur Jana

But he was a Pakistani, may be 180 degree different point of view than mine and yours but the deceased was a gentleman with much better repute than his brothers. Unlike his leader he didnot take refuge in Presidential palace instead he stayed on his ground with his people.

so while his brother ran the railways to the ground this guy is an "angel"? ......a "great to the nation"?.....

Basically when a person dies... people naturally feel pity for him... his atrocities, his debauched acts are immediately forgotten and his supporters are allowed to refer to him as a martyr while we look on with sympathy in our hearts. According to reports I receive Bashir was supposed to be the better one of the brothers. The Bilour's are a notorious family known for extreme corruption and strong-arm tactics.

I will give you 2 case studies to point out how a person's death can easily turn him into a martyr:
1) Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto: Arguably this man by not accepting Mujib Ur Rehman's victory in the election created a civil war and was part of the reason we lost east Pakistan. Extremely power hungry, he appeased the mullahs, banned drinking for not just Muslims but Christians too, kicked Abdus Salaam out with his idiocy, nationalized everything, started needless operations in Balochistan after dissolving the local government (that also after he had already killed the Bengali's vote and thrown half the nation away!) that are the cause of today's tensions. People will still support him because our political environment suggests we vote for losers but a balanced observer can tell you all this is true. Corruption was used as a tool to buy opponents during his time due to which it quadruppled.

His hanging made him a martyr. Now his policies are rarely condemned. I as a nationalist may never forgive him. He arrested our leaders because they opposed the handling of the 71 war, in fact stated that we should have done things to diffuse the situation.

Nawab Akbar Bugti: He was a governor of Balochistan and has held several important posts. Feeling that Balochistan was being mistreated he started agitating against the government though members of BSO-Pajjar still continue to state that he never advocated an independent Balochistan.

His murder has given new life to the independence movement. Proof of this can be found in the birth of new rebel organizations. For example in Musharraf's time we used to only hear about BLA and BRA attacks with occasional ones claimed by BLF. Now BLUF has become a powerful entity...

You can add to this list the murder of Nek Muhammed, a man we had a peace deal and led the Taliban in the past by a drone strike. Since then the TTP has taken birth.

You can add Benazir to the list as well. See how things like Benazir international airport would have been laughable years ago. Still sound ridiculous to my ears. In fact an entire districts historical name wiped to dust because of her death (Research Nawabshah)... Nawabshah was named by Sindhi kings and it is a murder of Sindhi history. @A.Rafay and PPP stalwart @Leghari's views on this might be interesting.

I can delve into the history but this discussion is about Bilour sb. The point is regardless of how the man behaved in life... he is a departed soul. People will sympathize... they will forget his flaws. According to popularity polls ANP has been losing support. ANP can hope to lure back lost voters with this.
