Turkey is a conscription-based military. It can not be compared to professional standing armies in terms of strength, let alone technology & industrial base. Strongest armies (militaries) in Europe are still France and UK (not counting Russia as European here)

Israel is also conscript army but nobody doubt their fighting capabilities if technology gap is not that big between 2 forces.

I have to admit in terms of army in Europe, Turkish forces are largest if we considered Russian not as Europe!

In 2 or 3 years, our gendarmerie will be 100% professional with around 200.000 units

This year alone, we carried out 70,471 operations against the PKK terror organization in Turkiye , İraq and Syria


between 2016 and 2021 we selected 110.000 soldiers from 1,4 million Turkish citizens who wanted to join the Turkish Gendarmerie

even Turkish Gendarmerie alone is enough to match with tiny French or British Army

The Turkish Army had only 2 commando divisions until the 1990s
now increased its commando force to 18 brigades. Gendarmerie commandos are not included in this number.
