Stonewalled China looks to Pak

My memory regarding Gwadar is bit hazy, let me just go and update myself.

Gwadar is a long running project, there were earlier attempts to develop a deep sea port but the plan never took off.

It was revived under ganjju's term, again due lack of funds and US sanctions we had to look into international investors.
US ignored the tender untill China showed interest and started to negotiate JV in building the port.

Once new sanctions were imposed due May 1998's nuclear testing Islamabad retaliated by awarding Gwadar to the Chinese.

Fase I and II have been completed, port will be inaugrated soon, probably by March 2007. :flag:

Yes, Peal Continental just opened there and more big names are in the pipeline.

Last month Chinese firms officially won the contract to build the new international airport, which should be ready by 2009.

UAE is building 90.000 bpd refinery, another one is being negotiated with Qatar and Kuwait.

The Makran Coastal Highway is in final stage of completion which will link Gwadar with Karach and Port Qasim.

It's looking good! :flag:

There are rumors that we're discussing a copper processing plant there aswell.

Earlier this years mega copper and gold deposits were discovered in Balochistan worth $95 billion at current value.

Production will start late next year already.
