Hello Everyone,

Can you list the major strategic weaknesses and strengths for both India and Pakistan.

The one I can think of are (in my inexperienced opinon):

Pakistan:

Strengths:

1. Army battle hardened in non-conventional and mountainous Terrain warfare due to War against Taliban
2. Nation has become resilient after facing years or attacks on soft targets
3. Support from China?

Weaknesses:

1. Geographically Narrow Country
2. Most water comes through Indian territory (Indus via Ladakh and Chenab, Ravi, Beas from IOK )
3. Major Cities lie on border (Sialkot, Lahore)

India:

Strengths:

1. Much larger Geographically; Greater Strategic Depth
2. Larger army, better and more modern equipment (Poseidon P-8s, etc)
3. Greater world influence, soft support

Weaknesses:

1. Have much more to lose in case of war, in the way of infrastructure and economy
2. The spectre of China is always near?
3. Low in Crude oil resources, most are imported from Middle East (Iran etc.), having to pass through Arabian Sea

Simply meant to be analysis thread, please no trolling

1. Geographically Narrow Country
I don't really see how that is a disadvantage; Pakistan has a massive and strong road infrastructure, capable of fast and smooth transport.

2. Most water comes through Indian territory (Indus via Ladakh and Chenab, Ravi, Beas from IOK )
Yes and guess where that all comes from? China.

Just recently, India's IWT drama was humiliatingly pushed back to square one by China - even Indians are started to realize that China has them by the balls if India ever tried to divert even a liter of water away.

3. Major Cities lie on border (Sialkot, Lahore)
Yes but they are heavily defended. If the entire Indian invasion force couldn't defeat halved garrisons in 1965; how do you think it will be possible to defeat the defensive measurements Pakistan has installed, now?

1. Much larger Geographically; Greater Strategic Depth
A geographically large country would thin its military concentration.

2. Larger army, better and more modern equipment (Poseidon P-8s, etc)
Larger army, but I would not say better. The Indian army is struggling to provide proper vests, helmets and even food to its soldiers. Pakistani soldiers per average seem to be much more motivated, fit (mentally and physically), experienced, trained and better equipped. But yes, the Indian military has shinier toys than us (such as it's navy and air defense).

.
Pakistan better equipped

Are you serious ....??????

No body mentioned the huge difference in economy military budget and forex reserve's.

In a conversational.war Pakistan Wil start to lose territory within one week simply because their war reserves will run out .

India has far more resources and because Pakistani cites are within easy reach they will suffer far more damage than likes of Mumbai Delhi bangalore hyderbhad etc .

This is why Pakistan threatens tactical nukes very early In a war.

The pak military have realised the likehood of losing territory within a short war

u seriously need to look into your reading and reasoning skills....... let me help u the OP states that india has better equipment.

I suggest you read talwar posts

According to him the Indian army can't feed its army let alone equip the army.

At least be honest with yourselves and be critical on yourselves dont just chest thumb and growl

Initially both sides will have even numbers. India's mobilisation skills are disastrous, just look at operation prakram. Pakistan can mobilise forces faster and more efficiently. Bigger army or not if forces can't reach a certain area on time properly it's a nuisance.

.
In a short war will be fine. If it drags on we have nukes. So we are covered.

. .
The shortest war, India and Pakistan have fought, has led to largest surrender till date, after world war 2.

That war lasted months, and India joined in during the last two weeks. You also have to keep in mind nobody had nukes so nobody held back. In a current conflict both sides would have a short, limited conflict and if it got anywhere near as bad as 1971, nukes would start flying.

The thread was about strategic strengths and weaknesses.

As per usual the Pakistanis are on a mission to prove how weak and inefficient the Indians are

So far

The Indians are not fed properly
The Indians can't mobilise properly
The Indians are not fit
The Indians are not battle hardened
The Indians do not have proper vests and equipment .

Then we have if war goes on for too long we have nukes.

This is a comical thread so far .

Not one genuine attempt to look at ground reality.

Ok sir can you kindly make it genuine :blah:

.
IMO, India's much larger economy as compared to Pakistan is its advantages. Losing more in case of a nuclear strike is India's disadvantage.

In case of Pakistan, it has lot more disadvantages as compared to India. The most populous Pakistani provinces are along the India border, then there is water, smaller economy, smaller army and fewer military wares are its disadvantages.
