Indian political influence in Sri Lanka has been largely negative. I think that's fair to say.

Given there are random bomb blasts in India and random acts of terror I'm sure many Indians realise than it ain't that great when neighbouring countries sponsor terror groups.

But India did exactly that in Sri Lanka.

Yes, yes, bad India. Perhaps you didn't notice but there are less comments made by me on SL than there are topics started by SL forumers take a p..ss on India. Again, perhaps SL should go vocal against India. I have been told 1000 times, not just by forumers but various threads that India is "disliked" in SL. Surely I am not making this up. So what is keeping SL quiet? Go ahead...

India is reaching out to Japan, Vietnam, Philippines...and doing it without spending any money. This is not 1940. Encirclement of next door is silly military strategy fitting 18th century war. China probably is more concerned about guarding its economic interest in India ocean and around.

Probably. Indians in general don't have any opinion. Only on PDF you see much news on India from SL. Outside TamilNadu LTTE is/was just a news. And you can similarly ignore SL forumers opinion as extreme. What you cannot ignore is how SL people perceive India. If they have problem with India, then surely India should stay away from SL. I do blame Indian politicians for their pis..poor attitude in past and how they are getting worked up over SL. If SL wants to play buddy buddy with China, that's their prerogative. India should make firm foreign policies not the diddle daddle that goes in the name of policy.

Actually Hambantota port is SL project, as far as I know first SL talked with India, they were not interested then project went to China. After completing the port last year India wanted to have oil bunkering but it's not possible. yep, Hambantota port is a commercial port, but this has a huge advantage to them in the future in anyways! We are expanding the Colombo south port too with the support of China, I heard some news related this it's bit scary, I don't want to reveal it at this time. Seems there's a lot of things happening than these port expanding projects...
