Sri Lanka snubs India, opens port to Chinese submarine again

Lots of sweat shops doesnt reflect the lack of poverty :sarcastic:
Just wait kid. While you warning ministry of Supa Powa CCP keep issuing warnings we will move forward with new foreign policy.
a toiletless slum begger with empty belly laugh about sweat shop? is this your culture?
PLA visited your country following every warning, how humiliating is that? I bet you don't feel that way, afterall you have plenty of experience to deal with it, as country being colonized for 1000 years.

Really???
Seems you are so obsessed with Toilets .Ok .Sweat shops may lack toilet. If you want developed face of India you should visit South India region nearer to the SL .There you can see states having HDI equal to developed nations.

PLA visited our territory for Dharna protest and this time they did it again and we send 1500 soldiers.
Just wait kid .We are largely modernizing our border area of NE region.
You guys are so much exploited the weakness of UPA,Congress govt. Now it is our turn.
Our neighbours except Pakistan cant dare to question our national security. You can take it leave it .Now wait for the docking of our nuke sub in Vietnam :haha:

What Pakistani Warships and what USN allowed to dock at Sri Lankan ports ? o_O

The USN fleet moved off the Strait of Malacca while Sri Lanka only provided refueling to Pakistani 'Aircraft' going to and from East-Pakistan many of whom were transporting civilians from East-Pakistan to West-Pakistan while simultaneously transporting Pakistani Troops to East-Pakistan !

What Pakistani Warships are you referring to ?
these fellows do not know what they are talking about

Reverse dreams don't come true.:cry: Anyway, aren't Bangladesh themselves crave to make Bangladesh a pawn of China. :girl_wacko:

China BD are strong ally. Chinese are building submarine docking station along with two submarines being brought in from China. Two latest submarines also going to join from Russia in the fray.

They have all the rights to dock. Perhaps the choice of the words were not realistic. The concern that India has is of a foreign military base in SL that is against our national security.

Otherwise, we have no problems with you guys on anything.

The first point was a response to you allowing Pakistani warships fuel and invited USN to doc in your country during 1971 war. If you had no intentions to antagonize us, why did you allow these ships to refuel, who were moving against us in an on-going war?

Isn't it an act of war that you participated in supplying and asking for militaries hostile to us into your territory? It could have gone worse but didn't happen.

If you were neutral, you should have refused the help and said "we don't want to be a part of this war".

What is past is past. We refused to support LTTE in the last moment willing to let go of the past and move to the future.

How about you don't support our enemies during a war next time to prove your neutrality?

Pakistan or China or anyone can be your friend, but when you logistically support them in an active conflict, you take a side.

Look at the Swiss government and see what neutrality is.

How? PM Modi has been snubbing regionalist TN politicians since he came to power. Right from the time of his swearing-in, some TN politicians were up in arms about inviting your president for the ceremony. The Central government ignored them.

Now if you are saying suppress them, then we cannot because as Indians and as citizens of a democratic country, they can voice out their perspective. Whether or not it will be considered is a government decision.

How many instances have occurred since the new government took over? Hardly any. And continues to reduce as more awareness is being given to them about this.

I know that some of our older government's policies were wrong, but why are you showing your aggression now when our new government is extending good hand to you guys moving on from older things and promising good ties?

What sort of a relationship are you looking at? Has GOSL raised this with the new government? Not that it has come in the newspapers.

We don't care who invests in your country for commercial interests. It is your choice as you are a free indepednent nation.

Our concern is military infrastructure that can pose a threat to us from third countries.

Can you please tell me one place where we are meddling with your internal matters?

With the new government, you can expect a visit very soon. It was very good of your president to have accepted our invitation. And looking at this, we have a good potential of cooperation.

We just want to ensure that your country is not used as a military base against our territory. That's all. If you can guarantee that, then you be free to cooperate with anyone you want.

A kind move indeed.

No doubt China helped you and you have all the rights to establish cordial friendship. But in order not to escalate things against our security in a future war with anyone, please don't take sides. Then we both can come clean.

And how do we don't? SL military officers continue to jointly train with Indian military cadets. We even engage in military commerce by buying patrol vessels from you. Yes there is a lot of scope but it has only opened now after all distrust has been shed.

Exactly.

Can you tell me what is the 'expansion' of defence relationship? Your military is capable of facing threats as such which your proved in LTTE war already. What is this nature of 'expansion' can you tell me?

And it certainly is not about buying more weapons because you already use Chinese weapons.

Think who and why is turning you and us against each other and for whose aims.

You clearly don't see the example of what happened in Myanmar or Cambodia. Study their country's trade dynamics, strategic over-dependence and being bound to China for multiple compulsions.

After all, it is your country and your choice. But mind you, Myanmar was far more economically integrated with China than you are right now, and when they sought to open up to us, you can read what happens.

Where do you pick this story SL did an act of war and helped Pakistani war ships? It was the refueling of air crafts which were used to transport civilians. When indian authorities objected to it our gover stopped that.

If you think that is an act of war, you are mislead.

India did not train LTTE as a response to your so called 'act of war' rather for different reasons. And it was not indira gandhi who started contacts with LTTE but RAW had already established contacts with LTTE because RAW faced the situation of fund cuts. So as a means for gainig funds and acceptance they started LTTE project.

That is meddling in internal affairs in SL. That is why many SLns have bad feelings for india. Please check your facts.

Who requested? Besides SL was neutral then that is why we refueled Pakistani ships. It was just business. If we didn't allow the Pakistani warships to refuel people would have thought we were with Indian side. And also if India wanted there warships to be refueled we would have done so.

BS. India sent IPKF to protect the Tamil militant groups from being totally annihilated. Also it wasn't even for SL Tamils pleas but for the Karunanidihi's.

Those 1200 didn't die for SL eventhough we respect them. (Though there is no memorial for them in India.) They fought for Indian policy makers.

India do not give economic aid and assistance to SL per say. The aid they give only goes to the North. Which is a face saving measure from the domestic political parties.
correct this , this is wrong. not war ships, air crafts that too for civilians transfer

For those indians who point at SL supporting Pakistan in 71..

The Way Forward

unhappy over what they perceived as the Indian support to the LTTE in the years before its assassination of Rajiv Gandhi in May 1991. This unhappiness never turned into bitterness and hatred for India.
Anyone who knows Sri Lanka and the Sinhalese well would be aware of their genuine goodwill for India. There were instances in the past when Sri Lankan governments had taken steps which were detrimental to Indian interests. A typical example was before the 1971 India-Pakistan war when they allowed Pakistani Air Force planes carrying men and supplies to East Pakistan to refuel in Sri Lankan airports. When Indira Gandhi strongly objected to this, they discontinued it.

know the facts and then talk

China would love to provide us with service areas. We can have bases a lot of places and we will.

Its way down in the long que of the Chinese freebie list. So it may take some time.

On the topic,

Both india and china are important for us. But when facing western propaganda and pressure china is a lot important, india's ability to support us is limited. In such a case SL is not in position to choose india over china
