Sri Lanka defends China presence in Indian Ocean

Are you kidding me  .... Sri Lanka is an island nation that has to import just about everything to survive. A simple naval blockade will kill you......and here you are talking about controlling IOR :cheesy:

we are not totally depend on imports. I think you didn't get what he meant. Sri Lanka and Maldives are the only 2 countries which located in the strategic location. but Maldives can not offered what Sri Lanka can offer. So China needs to hold its presence in Sri Lanka if they willing to be here, that's what they are doing now. China can have refueling facilities and various other facilities, they can roam around IOR without any fear coz we get bigger share after 2020 and in any matter they can enter to our waters.

Somali pirates think are strategically located, India is strategically located, Andaman Islands is strategically located, Singapore is strategically located, Malaysia is strategically located, Thailand is strategically located, Philliphines is strategically located, Vietnam is strategically located, Taiwan is strategically located, Australia is strategically located

Hell 90% of pakistani think their country is strategically located. :disagree:....I think its the most over used word in Naval parlance.

If you are talking about offering refueling facilities to Chinese Navy you will find India & US & Malaysia & singapore & Australia & Philliphines will have something to say about it.

Sri Lankan fuel comes from Saudi Arabia and Oman :disagree:....in your eagerness to provide fuel to china you will find that your own country doesn't have fuel for local consumption. Its not enough to talk about 'strategic location', you need to understand 'strategy' and its implications. :coffee:

If there are no country below us then who will provide facilities to them? Strategic location not a new born thing, it comes since the history if there is nothing to worry then India doesn't need be fear!

Refueling facilities to aircraft and ships is our commercial thing, Any country can have that facility, there is no reason to us to skip China.

yep, we don't have oil production at the moment but we have oil. Our oil productions will start around 2018-2020. We have given one oil block to China too and we have more blocks.

India anyway has nothing to fear ...lease of all from Sri Lanka who's safety, security and well being depends on our good will.

Even India offers refueling facilities to chinese commercial Aircrafts and Ships. I don't think that is what we are talking about.

Its good Sri Lanka has discovered Oil......India would like to see all nations surrounding it prosper so that our lives become easier. People who have something to loose do not indulge in war. Its the looser nations that have nothing to lose that are our headache.

They talk big but we like to do more...let's hope China work hard to strenghtening relation with Sri Lanka, we both will have bright future ahead of the cooperation and economy development
