First falklands now this one. British still have the colonial mindset , they could gracefully give the rocky tip back to spain and earn some respect.

You do know Spain ceded (as in handed Control of) Gibraltar to the Brits since 1713 via treaty of Utrecht. And that it was a Spanish Colony before British administer control....

Well, it was Roman/Carthaginian for a long while, then the Visigoths owned it for a few hundred years and then the Berbers took control of it for a few hundred years, then Spain took it from them and sold it some Jewish converts to Christianity, then they took it back and a few hundred years later gave it to Britain, Spain only ever controlled Gibraltar for about 200 years, Indians never really research the topics they talk about when it involves the evil British empire.

Same with the Falklands, in control of a land before the country now trying to claim them even existed and that country that is now trying to claim them killed off almost the entire population and yet because its part of the old British empire of sorts you overlook real genocide.

@mike2000 is back
You hear anything over there on subsequence of this news?
Yes i red it on news recently. Many of our people here dont even know about such a dispute to be honest and we dont care at all. Bar a war(which will never happen) like the one in falklands, nobody will ever bother about this dispute. The common british person doesnt even know we own gilbratar nor do they care that much(apart from going to holidays over there and enjoying the sunny weather).lool we are not asians that get so emotional about territorial disputes.

It was and will remain a british overseas territory like the falklands, Diego garcia, Cayman islands, and many other british overseas territoey we have. FULL STOP. The rest is just little trivial issues which doesnt and wont ever change anything. Except we take pity and decide to give these territories to countries we want. Apart from that nothing much , so everything depends on 10 downing street. :coffee:

Nahhhhh......we are insignificant and innocent.:D

Falklands , are you kidding ? where is the territorial connection btwn falklands and england ? Just because you sneak up on somebody's territory, exterminate ppl and put your own it does not belong to english. England brutally wins a war and imposes conditions to cede territory , so it belongs to them? English have good track record in grabbing others territory. Hongkong, northern ireland, .... does it ring a bell? Seems english only understand the brute power that china displays.

Time to park up a type 45 destroyer in Gibraltar. The Spanish are habitual violators with their speed boats. I find it hypocrtical they still hold something against the UK over the rock, yet they continue to occupy land in Morocco. :rolleyes:

It's just bluster. Spain spends a mere 0.8 percent of their already vastly shrunk GDP on the military. They are in no position to start a confrontation.

Not sure about that Mike. The entire older generation i.e. late 40's upwards all know about the Gibraltar dispute and did you know that he destination is fast becoming a tourist magnet for young Brits. Last year there was 15 million visits, 80% of the sea and air traffic was from the UK alone. :yahoo:

Lool which brute force has China ever displayed towards us? As far as i can remember its always been the opposite throughout history.:p:

As i always said, dont cry for others strength/power, cry about your own weakness. geo politics is not a moral game and never will be. Countries (smart and sane ones who have the capabilities.lol) will ALWAYS look after their interests irregardless of the consequences towards others. If you want to keep playing the victimhood like some chinese members here always do and whine about western imperialism and bla bla bla:blah:. Then carry on, who cares? lol. No power/country ever cared about the weak/vulnerable and never will they. If you cant make yourself stronger then shut up and assume your responsibilities(or should i say let other stronger powers assume your responsibilities for you.lol):lol:

If you are looking for moraility in geo politics then i recommend you go be a pastor/doctor or nursery school teacher. Lool Politics is another game altogether. :pop:
