SpaceX confirms it lost the center core of the Falcon Heavy

it's not meant to stay in Mars orbit..; but pass by it...
And what do you want to put in a TEST FIRST flight? that his only purpose is to TEST the SYSTEM...

Some kind of probe or measurement device? Some kind of scientific experiment or cancer research that needs to be done in space, like they do in the current Space Stations? Some kind of imaging device?

Or maybe a TESLA CAR so we can say the name ELON MUSK again.

If his ego was so important, why not just put a namecard with his name on it (and maybe his picture, and a vial of Elon Musk) to orbit around Mars, and use the lifting power of the rocket to carry a useful probe, measurement or imaging device, as I'm sure their scientists would have been eager to do. But he had to send a car.

.
Why, because Tesla recently made the biggest quarterly loss in their history?

Do you think there is something that they could have sent to Mars that was more useful than a Tesla car (which is completely useless in orbit around Mars).

Don't you think Scientists would be jumping at the opportunity to put something there that is actually useful?

And worst of all, it failed. That useless Tesla car isn't even going to be in orbit around Mars, they missed completely.

Yes he could have sent some thing useful. But sending a Tesla or an orange is his decision. He wanted to prove a point, he did. Yes there was setbacks, but I believe he will succeed anyways.

I am more interested in what nasa and USAF are planning together once commercial launches are off NASAs back.

You can't send device that important in a TEST flight...
Are you putting ppl in a maiden flight? just because it goes to Point A to B? Come on...

You can't put an imaging device or a monitoring probe in a test flight?

Are you of the opinion that Elon's MUSK (new fragrance 2018) could not have put ANYTHING in there more useful than a Tesla car?

And I guess there is no coincidence that today Tesla has just reported their biggest ever quarterly losses?

NO..;since it wasn't mean for that... they could have put a watch/ a playboy magazine... it's the same... useless...
And being at losses doesn't mean you failed... The investment balance in spacex play the trick... same for tesla per exmple... Or should I speak about Youtube, Origin etc....

When you see spaceX closing...then you can speak of failure...till then...Enjoy.
Btw Flacon 9 flight is 60Mil$ and Falcon Heavy is 90Mil$... cheapest alive... (Price for Customers..;not for personal use... makie it at least 30-40%less...)
Propellant cost only $200,000...
