To the topic ..... India increasing investment in Vietnam , Continuing oil Exploration in Vietnams EEZ and offering Brahmos among other defense equipment along with Russians is a good sign of things .

India-Vietnam should take it to the next level and build on it and ensure that Vietnam does enough trade with India that it does not have to depend on Chinese investment for growth .

You sound like you have experience of pakistanis in 1971. India can defend its territory and can choke the straits of Malacca and Homruz. At the same time India can hold on to its territory at the Chinese border.

The one country that is keeping the Malacca strait and Hormuz open is the USN. Not India, China or Russia. So only the US is capable of close the Malacca strait. Why are Indians and Vietnamese believe that their country can close these two straits? Their navy are not capable of doing that.

Brahmos is too short of a weapon to be any effective. Indians got sold by the Russians. So don't jump up and down over that "super" weapon that fall short.

It is more than enough to send fear down the spine and at 3.0 mach almost unstoppable flying at such low altitudes... can be fired from land, sea , air highly versatile and recent reports say depending on load it carries can strike 500 KM easily

Stop adding distance to the missile. Otherwise, why not make it 3000 miles easily? Its a short range missile that depend on superiority of the sky. This missile is pointless because

1) If its against countries that has long range standoff weapons, Indian planes wouldn't be able to get close enough as they would be shot down from a long distance.

2) If its against countries that has no such capabilities, why not use a cheaper weapon?

Brahmos is just too expensive for its purpose. Actually, all weapons jointly developed, indigenous developed, or purchased by India are over price.. Too much corruption there.

That's why Brahmos was designed to mount it on the warships, jet fighters to EXTENDING it range. If India, Russia OK for Viet Nam do some modify on Brahmos it could be able to take down China bombers too.

I smell Jealousy here ... never mind ...

Yes there is possible to extend a missile range to 3000 KM but the MTCR regime( in which both India and Russia are voluntary members) has a restriction of 300 KM and hence Brahmos range is published as around 290 KM .

Good luck for your cheaper weapons , hope they fly .... we are happy with our Agnis and Nirbhays and Brahmos among others !!!
