Sonu Nigam tweets against Azaan, creates a controversy

Does Azaan on Loudspeaker happen in US or European countries?

In this technologically advanced world you dont need a loudspeaker to call for prayers

I understood your point and am still asking your repeatedly, report such posts that violates Forum Rule, without quoting back and move-on that the Mods will take care. Personal opinion about any member doesn't carry any weight but reporting such posts will be treated accordingly.

Thanks again.

I hear what you say. But the evidence in terms of the continued presence of abusive posts reported is to the contrary.

You will appreciate that the posts were reported first. And quoted later only when no action was taken.

That said, given this opportunity of having your ear one on one, I would like to reiterate that I was not trolling Bharwana, and the short tete a tete could have been deleted as off topic posts but did not deserve the strong step of a strike/warning. My clarification I believe should be taken in good faith and the warning should be rescinded.

Thank you.

As a Muslim the comment on its own isn't that bad - after all prayers were offered for hundreds of years without the use of mics...and those living in the west or non muslim countries hardly ever hear the call to prayer.

But, when you look at the big picture, you realize this is yet another thing for people to bitch about when it comes to Islam/Muslims.

It's like the halal debate in the west...the media somehow almost always concentrates on Muslims....ignoring Jews and the Kosher method of slaughter.

Islam dont ask us to irritate any non Muslim, i am sure some kind of compromise can be made here. but i dont trust Hindus, after few years they will start complaining about something else, Hindu always have problem with Muslims especially when they are in minority.

Sonu is spot on. I am a muslim as well. You don't need to disturb everyone via loudspeakers, there are not only non muslims in that area but also patients can be there. The unnecessary loud noise can be troublesome to many.
Lets be honest and fair, we can always come to mosque without loudspeaker.

Your country your rules, here in pak according to new rule a masque can have only one loudspeaker, no one can use speakers for naat, qirat etc, but only they can use speakers for azan, i think its good move by govt, india can implement similar rule too, before this rule a small masque having dozens of speakers which been uaed unnecessary

Only mosques in Muslim neighbourhoods use loudspeaker (maximum one allowed) for azan and arabic khutbah. Barelvis in western up and mp used to use loudspeaker for salat o salaam too but its been curbed now. Minority Muslims in hindu majority villages of UP, Bihar tend to avoid using loudspeakers

Bro I appreciate the clarification. But sound does not stop where the neighborhood does.

I'm not Muslim, but my family lived in a Muslim majority neighborhood. I used to sleep like a horse. But my dad for years used to be wide awake after 5 a.m. pacing around the house.

Bro you just need to approach them and tell them to adjust the sound level. They would listen. They tone it down a lot during exam time

This is India bro. Kaun karta hai aise?
There are some Hindu families where I live (Park Circus). They never approach us nor interact with us. We give them iftar invitations but they never come. They think we are al qaeda isis territory dangerous we would "chaku" them lol. The Christian families on the other hand interact with us freely. We even have pork shop Chaman's in Park Circus market which is Muslim majority area right opposite to the beef stores. Its quite popular among the Christians in our area. I hope the Hindu families someday interact with us too

Where I live, in the British era old stone market, you have Muslim chicken and mutton shops and Christian pork and packed (processed chunks, keema, salami, sausages etc.) beef shops side by side.

The beef abattoir (with the hanging carcasses) is located in a different area about 20-30 meters away, with the fish zone in between.
